The day I stop crowing about our greatest achievement is the day I stop supporting Villa.

The most worrying thing about that article is that he analysed 27 legia Warsaw games and still put out a piss poor team and tactics

Apart from that I think he’s doing okay

Happy Belated Birthday Unai!

I feel very twitchy about all this speculation about us as well. I'm concerned about our best players being tempted away too. Yet again. We're cursed: as soon as we get somewhere,  events conspire to slap us down again.

I truly want to believe it's different this time. It's been a long, long time since that 1996 League Cup win. Hearing people singing that 1982 song at the ground is truly embarrassing.

24 English Teams have won the league,
23 have won the League Cup
44 have won the FA Cup
6 have won the European Cup.

So why not sing about the most exclusive title we have won?

How many have won the Super Cup?

It's risky but the more I think about it the more I think he knew what he was doing that day. He went pretty much full blown 2nd string team there to see who he could rely on and who he couldn't. The Zrinjski game at home he made less changes, and by the time we got to Alkmaar, he had it spot on.

That’s an interesting stat as stats go

With the Legia Warsaw game, apparently we got there pretty late...about a day before. They corrected this for the Alkmaar game and gave themselves more prep time.

Weird as that’s one of the easiest things to control and something that would’ve applied at Seville/Villareal etc too.

Singing about winning the European Cup in 1982 is not the slightest bit embarrassing to me. Being present in Rotterdam for the greatest moment (so far) in our history that night, it still seems quite recent. I suppose it depends on your age.
Whilst I was only born in 1982 I don’t think it is embarrassing - we should be proud of it - and football didn’t start in 1992.

Also we have to listen to 1966 and all that - and I think the response to Bobby charltons death shows the importance of history in football
Absolutely. I'd like it if we had something else to sing about too, but I don't think it's at all embarrassing to have won the European Cup

History is integral to what being a supporter is all about.  I'd have no issue if all we had to sing about was have the Cup stolen more times than Blues have won it. That we've won the European Cup is nothing to be embarrassed about, especially when considering some of the clubs who hadn't yet won it prior to 1982, e.g. Juventus, Barcelona.

Completely agree with all of this.
The song itself, whilst i have no problem with it, sing it myself in the Holte, i think it is losing its momentum a bit compared to the promotion year and year after.
I really wish the Holte would take up the Let it Be Emery song, I can imagine it now, it would be a thing of beauty with the Holte in full voice

I can't see Emery going to Old Trafford in any circumstances at present, even if was unhappy at Villa (which I don't think he is). If the rumours coming out of there are remotely true there is a toxic dressing room with a bunch of egotistical Prima Donnas. Wasn't that what did for him at Arsenal? I think he's much too smart to fall into that trap twice. AS others have said, I don't think he will be leaving us until he has taken us as far as he thinks he can, which hopefully won't be for a good few years yet.

Individual errors from Digne in all three of their goals and we still managed to create lots of chances and should have drawn at minimum.

Five, but I expect it also to be six once Citeh play in the equivalent version as well.
