Well at least the answer to Risso is let him do the press conference in Spanish. I'm sure they would be less boring then.

I think they'd be the same. His English is near perfect now, he just clearly doesn't like them and I think he doesn't like to give too much away. In any case, it doesn't matter, if he keeps on serving up the same football and results, he can literally have a tape recording just saying "demanding" a thousand times in a row for all I care.

Yet when we're on a bad run, the manager is expected to expand massively and share all the details. Which is strange.

What's a bad run?

A defeat followed by a draw. Unacceptable.

What's a bad run?

Scoring fewer than 3 at home in the league.

Fast becoming a Villa legend.
Is he becoming the best we've ever had?
I know it's trophies & titles that count but what he has done in only 12 months is remarkable.
At the moment, Villa haven't lifted a trophy on his watch.  As soon as he does that - yeah, he's top 5 Villa managers ever (alongside our only other managers to win proper trophies - Ramsay*, Houghton, and Saunders/Barton) for me

* yes, I know there's some debate about whether he was a 'manager' or not - but he's listed as manager on Wikipedia so that's what I'm going with

Honestly, I think he already is and the next few seasons will make it seem like a silly question.

The difference he's made, with essentially the same squad of players, demonstrates just how good the man is.

I will also say though, that our recruitment over the past few years has been top notch too, because we've obviously identified and bought players who are capable of great things.

His English is far from perfect. There's no shame in that.

People who have to work hard to speak a foreign language, being asked questions on the hoof by journalists on TV, especially, will always reach for stock phrases they've memorised / used several times before.

It's why you hear so many of them so frequently say things like "I'm so happy", "for sure" (F1 drivers for some reason use this all the time), "being demanding" (one of UE's preferred ones, obviously).

Anyway, like Risso said, who cares, the team clearly understand what he's after, and it is definitely getting through to them.

Anyone who is bi-lingual instantly gets a pass if their second, third, fourth or fifth choice language isn't perfect.

Always cracks me up when people do that "good ebening" attempt at humour as soon as you mention Emerys name.

What they are failing to realise is that its about as original as a bad cover song by a piss poor Elvis impersonator, about as funny as an STD & Emery not only speaks several languages, he actually speaks better English than half the people taking the piss out of him whose native tongue & only language is actually English...

It is deeply embarrassing isn't it, just from an originality point of view if nothing else. Never mind that the guy speaks Spanish, Basque, French, English...

Mind you, I'm betting these are the same people who wet themselves with excitement whenever Beckham would mumble out two of the eight words he knew in Spanish, so fair to say their understanding of matters linguistic might be a little lacking.

I'd love it if when we win the Champions League that in his post-match interview he relaxes enough to say, 'Well that was a bery good ebening wasn't it?'

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that English was Arsene Wenger's third language, after French, obv, and German.

Despite all the piss-taking he's had for it, he often opens post-match interviews by saying 'good evening'.

You reveal yourself as a complete wanker making fun of someone attempting to learn or speak a foreign language. And after all this time if you’re still coming up with “good ebening” in your posts to get a cheap laugh then you’re just a boring prejudiced twat.
