How good have Aston Villa been under Emery?

With 11 wins in a row, Villa have the third best home record in the top five European leagues

This is their best home run since winning 13 in a row in 1983 when they were reigning European champions

Before this run, Villa had won just 10 of 30 home matches - and lost 13 of those games

In 2023, Villa have earned 62 points from 31 games. Only Manchester City have more (74). Arsenal also have 62

Since Emery's appointment, they are the fourth best team in the Premier League in terms of points

Villa have scored 17 goals in four home league games this season

Douglas Luiz is the first Villa player to score in six consecutive games at Villa Park in the Premier League, surpassing the record previously held by Dwight Yorke (5 - 1996)

I’m delighted we are setting and breaking records. I’ll be even happier if we can make this much more commonplace over the next few years. We can start to dream after so many years of mostly utter shit that the next few will be more enjoyable and filled with a genuine chance at sustained success.

Averaging more than 4 goals a game is just cartoon shit.

Being a Villa fan at the minute is quite an odd feeling, pleasant but odd. Like I'm having an out of body experience watching what I would like to see but couldn't possibly be happening in reality.

We've got a decent winnable run of games now, and then a two week break between Fulham and Spurs. Hopefully that's enough time to get Ramsey and Moreno fully fit. Ramsey walks straight back into the team, not sure Moreno does at the moment.

Yes Digne is playing well, but that's great too because given the type of injury it was building up fitness with chunks of subs appearances will probably be needed.

Last season they'd started the season with 3 defeats and 0 goals in their first 3 league games, and then played us. It was April when they won their second away PL game.

If they'd won yesterday they'd have equalled their away record from last season.

Despite our glorious history it’s bizarre how many records are being broken under Unai.  Surely we have got to end up winning something haven’t we?

Keeping Digne was such an important decision.  It's such a tricky juggling act to keep squad depth and players happy.  I imagine Carlos will start to get itchy feet soon enough, but he's one injury away from being needed every week.

Ironically, as well as Digne played, I think we missed Moreno yesterday as he would have been 10 yards further forward and given Coufal a torrid time.  Overall though, he will have to force himself back in when fit as Digne has the shirt.

It's got the Saunders invincibility feel about it. We expect to win games now instead of fearing the worst.
It's going to take a very good team to take points off us at VP under Emery this season.

After missing a penalty in the first 10 minutes. And lots of rain.

Their goals at Forest at the weekend were peak Wimbledon.

At least we haven't got to go home to Luton afterwards, though.
