Unai Emery is the best manager we’ve had since Saunders, yes and I am old enough to remember

He just needs to win something now to cement it

I think Emery has now won us all over with regards to the way we play. The first few months took some getting used to and playing out from the back made us all a bit panicky. Now I love it and he’s dragged us all along with him.
I knew he was a top coach when he arrived but he’s a lot better than what I thought we were getting. We are still some way off where we want to be and the next step will be the hardest.
From fighting relegation to playing in Europe in less than 12 months takes some doing. Now he’s trying to build a squad capable of competing with the best. If the owners give him what he wants he’ll deliver, I have absolutely no doubt about that.

It's quite easy these days to know when you're in the vicinity of someone that doesn't get down the Villa as much as perhaps they once did. There were one or two sat somewhere behind me that were a little more jittery and impatient than the rest of us calmly watching.

Yep couple of the “get it in the mixer” types sat near me last night.

We had one chap behind us who must have threw a few beers down his neck at half time because he came back and started singing extremeley badly.

3 minutes into injury time Emery was still telling everyone to calm down... the confidence in the man!

I absolutely love it.  It was bloody brilliant viewing last night, the second half at least.  Can't remember another Villa side where I've been just generally as open-jawed as I have with this one.  Really wish Joe had stayed for this, he'd have been utterly marvellous in this team.  Still, his loss.  We're going to win the fucking league.

It had a similar feel as the Palace game.

We have the feeling now of one of those top sides who keep going and find late winners.

Couple of times we lost patience and had shots from distance that ended in the Holte End. I'm sure they'll be told in the post-match analysis to keep calm, keep moving the ball and wait for the opportunities to present themselves.

Traore did well in his cameo.

Bert was more productive than Bailey and linked-up well with Cash. He's a clever footballer.

It's always fun when we get a game like Brighton where we know from about 20 minutes in that we're smashing them, but I think games like this, and the Palace one, like you say, they're important too for the players. To get that mentality of playing till the end, not letting the heads drop, and all that stuff.

I'm watching it again now. It's tremendous, we're tremendous!

Yeah he might still get into the mix, up front/high on the right next to Watkins if Diaby was unavailable. Bailey and Zaniolo aren't exactly shining currently. Emery went for Kellyman ahead of him against Everton which was a mistake really. I like Traore but you need to own the ball for him to be anyway effective, without the ball he's a liability.

Nope, he has had one for 80odd games in England.

I hope we keep this fella for years. We all love him already. He could be to Villa what Wenger was to Arsenal, or Ferguson to Newton Heath.

The potential is there.
