Emery is perhaps the first manager we’ve had in my lifetime where i’d say if we struggled at a point i’d replace the players rather than the manager.

Agreed Leon. I hope he becomes our Ferguson or Wenger in terms of longevity.

The contrast with other managers, where he calmly walks off down the tunnel after a couple of obligatory handshakes, instead of being on the pitch milking the applause.
In his head he's thinking, right job done, now to plan for the next opponent.
He was on TNT pre-match talking with the presenters (Crouch and Joe Cole), and as he finished the interview he walked away back down the tunnel, but stopped to sign autographs on shirts and took selfies with peoples phones.
I thought to myself then, what an all round good guy he is, and he seems to be loving life at VP.

I also love his reactions when the team does something shit leading to us conceding, or even just a horrible misplaced pass. He looks absolutely furious and like he physically hates the player involved. Imagine giving a mafia boss the news that a drug shipment's been impounded by the feds, and that's pretty much his demeanour. The Hitler bunker scene in Downfall (as see in all the memes) is another valid comparison.

He hated conceding that goal more than anybody else in the ground - you just want to say to him 'mate, we're lifelong fans and we're not even that mad!'

But he's also just such a class act, muting his celebrations for the 5th and especially 6th goals, not Klopping around like a wanker. A real gentleman.

Nothing is for effect, like I suspect with many managers.

He's just pure into what's happening on the pitch.

As the saying goes, if I found him in bed with my missus, I'd bring him a cup of tea.

Saturday confirmed my suspicion that he can setup a team to attack but in doing so he leaves a lot of gaps for the opposition to exploit. He's been there for just over a full season (39 league games now) and they've conceded 62 goals, that makes for some exciting games and the 80 goals they've scored do hide it a little bit but elite teams don't concede 1 and a half a game.

You could put it down to Brighton having poor defenders but his record in Serie A is similar.

For contrast Emery has conceded 37 in 32 with us and that includes terrible results against Leicester, Arsenal and Newcastle accounting for more than a third of them.

In fairness, I doubt he had the cream of the crop in terms of centre-backs when he was managing Sassuolo either. Back-to-back 8th finishes in Serie A with such a small club/budget was a great over-achievement.

He's a high-risk/rewards manager and that is to be applauded as they're a better outfit than under the highly-lauded Potter despite continually losing their star performers. But they're style will mean that if you're good enough to turn them over in midfield, win possession and get at their defence, they are highly susceptible.

Wonderful. Did you see his interview before the game, he was like a kid the night before Christmas, he was so bloody excited, happy and smiling like a loon. I think, no, I know it was then for the first time since Everton that I thought we may actually turn up, you can't be that confident going into a game like he was unless you know something. In all my years supporting Villa I've never seen anything like it before, not even from Ron Saunders.

He's always to the fore when a set piece is being set up but keeps a relatively low profile otherwise.

I love he’s so tactically astute, I love his humility, I love that he never ever complains about a decision, or a referee or anything. He’s humble but confident, professional but also excitable, the absolute real deal. I love him.
