I felt like that line up looked much stronger than the one from Legia and felt like one a manager who wants to win (while resting some) would send out. Obviously I didn't know McGinn was playing LB and that everyone would be shite again. But the McGinn thing aside, the selection should have played better than they did.
Agreed. I have no problem with the selection, it should of been good enough to compete with Everton. And as strange as it was seeing McGinn at left back, that wasn’t the reason  we lost the game.
Like Clampy I think making comparisons between Emery’s comments and Gerard’s is stupid, the bloke is on a different fecking planet.

It's not comparing the comments, just pointing out that most managers after a bad result, resort to meaningless soundbites. He can be as "demanding" as he likes, but Tielemans to pick one player doesn't appear to be listening.

I understand the weaker team tonight. We don’t have the squad to play at full strength 2 times a week. He’s been really let down by a few who have been given the chance to shine.
We aren’t a top 4 or 5 team yet but we somehow sit 6th and that’s down to Emery who’s a top coach.

Being pissed off with being beaten is understandable. Coming out and saying he's  making similar soundbites as Steven Fucking Gerrard is just laughable and frankly embarrassing

Gerrard for his many faults took the cup games he was in charge for seriously and picked very strong teams.  Emery has pissed about in the ones he's had after basically lying that he wanted to win a trophy.  Sorry, but he can't be trusted

And the Emery kicking has started. Wow.
Well why not? He’s lost 4 out of 10 so far this season  conceding 13 goals whilst doing so. It doesn’t look good.

Moreno, Mings, Ramsey and Buendia. All pivotal to our Spring slaying. All currently unavailable. It's a lot to deal with.

"I have to be demanding with them" is rapidly becoming this season's "helping the players be the best version of themselves."

Emery, comfortably the best win percentage of any manager we have had. Ha led us to our best finish in 14 years and it is nailed on you will be the first one to go calling for his head at some point.

We aren’t a top 4 or 5 team yet but we somehow sit 6th and that’s down to Emery who’s a top coach.

Between injured players and players who should be putting in better performances more consistently we're 7 or 8 players short of having the depth to compete well on more than one front.

It's hard enough having to try to figure out the best way to rotate players, but from week to week we seem to be without another 1 or 2, and then the ones that remain fit seem to pick and choose when to perform. Mings and Buendia aren't going to make a difference anytime soon, but to have Ramsey and Moreno come back and then be gone again, that's a blow. Same with Diego Carlos.

Other teams are having injury problems too, and can still compete, so I'm not putting all the blame on that. But in terms of being able to rotate players, and still have some consistency, having Moreno, Ramsey, and Carlos back properly would seriously help things.

A 60% win ratio doesn't look good?

Emery has been here less than a year, has had us running at CL challenging form in that time, but he can't be trusted and the signs aren't good?

To be honest I don't give that much of a shit about going out tonight.

Would be nice to have a decent run but we're in four competitions and the squad simply isn't big enough to go full pelt in all of them. I get the point that the manner of the defeat is really disappointing though.

The team was good enough to win even though it was weakened so that's on the players, for me.

We're about 10 metres into a marathon we are well placed in so I'm not going to overreact. We're going to have a great season. We'll win on Saturday as well BTW.

There are some valid reasons to be disappointed so far this season, & Unai Emery is not beyond criticism, but I think he has given more reasons than not to trust in him for the longer term.

Thats not to say he doesn't deserve some criticism, like playing McGinn at LB & the pace-less Tielemans in front of him, but questioning his future?

Thats a bit much, for the now...

His first signing, of all the players or positions, was an extremely attacking left back. I love Moreno, so do you, and fingers crossed he's back before too long.

But I can't fathom, on the basis of how absolutely crucial Moreno is to how we attack, together with a really physical and high quality player like Ramsey, why we mucked around at full back. Again.

Chambers against Warsaw and then that weird experiment tonight with McGinn, who was consistently too deep to exploit the vast acreage of Everton's weird no press, highline, constrict the midfield and endlessly give it away- shape that they "played".

Emery is a great manager, but not beyond criticism on the very rare ocassion he deserves it.

The only solution is to have 2 managers
One for the league the other for cup competitions

We've scored 6 goals in the 4 cup defeats, that should give you a decent chance win all 4, not lose them all. But the brain farts from professional players are killing us.

Well for whatever reason, Olsen wasn’t replaced, and he’s consistently terrible.
