Newcastle are only above us on games drawn you know. We've got the same number of wins - 16 (sixteen!) - as they do.

Not only are our players physically drained but they must be mentally drained as well. They were not used to focusing on patterns, presses etc for 90 minutes before Unai arrived!! But, Unai's demands 'on and off' the pitch are no doubt the reason we have gone on this fantastic run.

A commentator said last night that when Unai suspected a player at Villareal was not paying attention in one of his videos sessions, at the end he gave him a UBS stick and wanted his opinion the next day.

The UBS stick was blank!! The crafty sod.

Hopefully, our players will get a day or two off to rest their 'body and mind'. They deserve it. But hey, Unai might think differently.

Plenty of time to rest at the end of the season. Now is not the time to clock off!

To emphasise a point: if, when Emery came in, Villa were on exactly zero points, we'd still currently be above Chelsea on this form, and two behind Brentford. Nearly top half from a standing start. It's utterly insane.

Just listening to Talksport (yes, I know) and Our Villa Superfan Danny Murphy is trying to stick up for his mate Steve Gerrard while a Villa fan caller is ripping his time at Villa to shreds. Simon Jordan (who I suspect rather likes us) sticking up for us (though he's no fan of Tyrone Mings)!  Danny still belittling us nevertheless...

What did Villa do to him in the past, I ask myself, to  justify this anti-Villa bias? Turn him down for a youth trial?  Having his sister dumped on Christmas Eve by a Villa fan/player years ago? It's a mystery to me.

Fuck the national media: we're back and they don't like it! :D

A chancing bluffer once said

“…The players here have to help me now for the next eight games and if not, we'll get players who will help me fix it…”

That's quite an investment.

20 games, 42 points.

That's equivalent to EIGHTY points over a season.

Stone cold genius.

Brilliant, also we have now become the first team in Premier League history to score in their first 20 matches under a new manager.

This made me go 'wtf' in a way the 'PL table since Unai arrived' stats haven't - that is absolute madness.

Genius.

It's the first time, since 1983, that we've won five consecutive home games whilst keeping a clean sheet.

It's been a remarkable turnaround really. Truly fairly tale stuff. I'm sure even the most positive fan would have thought the best we could do following his appointment was pull away from relegation and build towards a top 8 finish next season.

I'm really hoping we can maintain our form (or close to it) until the final game of the season, but if we don't, and we hit a mini bump, it won't change the fact it's been an incredible run to this point.

Imagine how exciting the start of next season will be if we can scrape a European place. A full pre-season under Emery's watchful eye, a few new Emery-friendly faces in the team, some more homegrown players integrated into the first-team squad - the feel-good factor around the place will be off the scale.

Someone has probably already noticed this and posted about it. On every single Emery interview I have seen/heard  (literally dozens since he joined) he has used the word “improve” when he’s talking about performance. He must be constantly challenging the players to do better - and it’s clearly working

Not an exact science but to give an idea of the pace we're running at under Unai, this link includes the table after everyone had played at least 20 games. Then stick us with 42 points from 20 games in there.

'Fun' fact. We've won more games after 20 league games under Unai than we won in the 38 under Gerrard.

With pretty much the same players

Emery's 20 games
WWLWDWWLLLWWDWWWWWDW - 42 points

Gerrard's last 20
LLDWWLDDLLWLLLDWDDLL - 18 points
