We should be very prepared for other clubs to start sniffing around. We need our ambitions to keep pace.

I am certainly prepared to here our supporters talk ing about our manager being poached  without him having completed a calander year of his contract. So long as they are prepared  to be told to get a grip.

From incompetent, relegation folder rabble in October to sixth in the league and a proper football team by Easter. Remarkable manager.

He’s very clearly striving to be better and better every week. He went absolutely ballistic when Buendia lofted a hopeful pass that went straight to a Forest player.

good!

Passes like that are a reminder of the very worst of Gerrard (I firmly believe he asked McGinn to play those and it's why he was so poor at the start of the season). Long passes are fine but not when they're punts in roughly the right direction. That sort of route 1 bullshit is the first thing most centre backs learn to deal with and is normally just giving away possession and control of the game.

He tells it like it is. He clearly wasn’t happy with the performance today and I think the players will know it.

We do seem to have a very good squad in terms of professionalism these days. No wasters any more, thank God.

Although if we did have any, they clearly wouldn't last five minutes under Emery. We finally have a manager who understands what it takes to reach the very top and is prepared to demand it of his players. The good ones will only respect him all the more for it.

Tells it like it is, but not with playground bully bullshit. He'll say 'well done on this, this was bad'.

It's nice to have a manager who is doing well enough that other teams may want to poach him.

If Emery were to be poached, I think that would be the final nail in my following of the sport.

We have that rarest of things in modern football - a man of integrity and loyalty. I do not think he will choose to leave us until he believes he's taken us as far as he can.

Not sure of his politics, but further down the line, only Real Madrid or Barca would have the attraction to poach him.

Possibly Real Unión as well.

Why's he going to get poached as a result of what he's done with us? It's not like either he or his record was unheard of.

To give an idea of the job he's doing, 11 wins in 17 league games, Gerrard won 12 in 38 with a near identical squad. In fact after 17 games this is how he compares to our full PL seasons since MON left and he hasn't event done half the games of a season

Emery 11 wins
10/11 12 wins
11/12 7 wins
12/13 10 wins
13/14 10 wins
14/15 10 wins
15/16 3 wins
19/20 9 wins
20/21 16 wins
21/22 13 wins

Just more villa pessimism. He is going nowhere. One thing we need to do now we have lost our soft underbelly is to toughen up about x y or z going because someone will come in for them. Just tell the poachers to fuck off.

That soft touch has actually been gone quite a long time. We told Arsenal to fuck off over Luiz. Sales of players we'd have preferred to keep have been because of buy out clauses rather than us being a soft touch. Long may it continue as well.

Good grief. The paranoia from some on here is astonishing. Reminds me of the early days of the TSM2 and how after a good spell with us he was going to inevitably pack his bags for Dortmund. We are Aston Villa. I realize for many of us our nuts have been shrunk by years of abuse. But it’s time to start puffing our chests out a bit and have confidence in not just who Emery is, but who the owners are too. Fuck everyone else. This is our time.
