It happens in other sports like hockey, where teams sometimes even play a half-pitch press to compress the space i.e. let the opposition have possession in their own half unless someone calls a change

Emery is a man of some superstition/super natural  beliefs , as when he was at Arsenal, he called his mistress a White Witch and blamed her for getting dismissed.

Aside from the fact Emery isn't directly quoted as saying that, it's utter drivel which has no relevance.

We all have our superstitions in one way or another.

My nan always told me not to cut my nails on a Friday or Sunday or it would bring bad luck.

I'm not a moderator, so feel very free to ignore me, but is there any chance that we could start being nice to each other?

Does being nice to each other include not spamming the site with drivel, conjecture and I'd suggest from a post not far above this libelous allegations. Being nice cuts both ways SE. I do of course admit I should probably ban myself for drivel and conjecture.

I guess it comes down to individual judgement. If someone appears to be struggling, I personally would be uncomfortable sticking the boot in.

Exactly. I've never known a poster to "trigger" so much vitriol from innocuous comments. Ignore and keep scrolling if you're that het-up.

If I were struggling, posting nonsense on an internet discussion board isn't going to help matters imv. However I haven't stuck the boot in but quite understand the frustrations on all sides.

Not being provoked by others is a good thing/art. If someone has to be protected from themselves moderators can consider take the one off the board so the one can have a rest?

Of course. What have I done to piss you off? I'll almost certainly apologise and desist.
