People may scoff at Football Insider but it's stop on with Emery hands on approach.
"Emery primarily used his own network and contacts for the completed deals in January – as well as other moves which fell through"

Not sure why I bother replying to someone so clearly on a wind up. I guess you and your chums are happy though.

Try showing compassion instead. Better for the blood pressure and general mood.

My end of February position for Emery is yes let's give him more time. Will review this end of April.
I bet he can't wait.
Yes. Obviously he knows that he’s only here as long as he has my support. ;)

That's just prompted me to dig out Danny Howard's 2013 remix of Iggy Azalea's 'Bounce' on YouTube. 8)

Cheers F-V, not just a football sage but a music one as well.

Football 365 do a winners and losers of each premier league weekend
This week, they list Unai Emery one of the winners of the weekend:

"Only Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Man Utd have more Premier League points and wins than Aston Villa since Unai Emery’s first game in charge Chuck in Brighton for the exhaustive list of teams with more goals in that timeframe. To engineer that improvement, from a relegation battle to absolute mid-table security, with only one of his own signings playing regularly, is testament to Emery’s underrated coaching excellence"

Yep. Villa are fourth since game week 13. That includes 5 weeks since the end of January. Man the lifeboats.

Was talking football to a Celtic supporting work mate yesterday.
We were discussing the modern game and how the different styles of football have evolved away from the hoof it up field.
He was talking about Celtic not always being that great at beating a low blocking team, (their first half against St Mirren) i was talking about how impressed i was with Emery and how we are playing it out from the back, and the progress can be seen in the last couple of goals we have scored that started with Martinez.

He then mentioned the best side he had seen for doing that was when PSG played Celtic in the CL at Parkhead a few years ago, when Rodgers was manager.
PSG won 5-0 and he reckoned it was some of the best football ever seen. PSG had great players in Neymar, MBappe and Cavanni, but he was more impressed with Thiago Silva and how PSG were able to invite the press and play through or around Celtic.
I then realised that was when Unai Emery was PSG manager, so i watched in on YouTube and sure enough PSG were fantastic that game.
I know it was "only" Celtic, and PSG had bought some fantastic players, but it feels great to have a real top class manager at the wheel with a real vision and plan of how he wants us to play.
Looking forward to seeing how he builds and develops this team.
The future's bright with Emery at the wheel.

Agreed. I was just chatting with someone on this same point. Unless every player in a team is absolutely outstanding in possession and coached (over-coached?) to pass, pass, pass like Man City, then it is not easy to play through a team prepared to concede the ball and disciplined about keeping their shape.

We could move the ball quicker than we do now and hope to play through a team, though with the players we have presently we will lose possession too many time, for this manager at least. You can see that Emery wants us to first pull the opposition out of their shape and then try to play through them.

Part of the frustration (for me) at the moment is that Konsa seems incapable of doing anything other than passing to Mings or Martinez, so we are more predictable than we should be. Hopefully Carlos coming in for Konsa changes that. UTV.

At the weekends game, I was kind if musing on what would happen if Palace would have just stopped where they were rather than their attackers eventually getting bored and pressing Emi when he had his foot on the ball.

Yep me too. Have thought that a couple of times; especially if we're drawing or worse still losing, at home.

I guess that's the point of it though; it's a dangerous game that will almost certainly result in mistakes that mean we'll concede, we just need to prove that we score more.- If opponents smell an opportunity, they will press to get it. We need to have movement in the midfield and forward positions that enables a pass forward from the back.

Emi would have stood there with his foot on the ball.

I reckon a team should do it, just to see the crowd reaction and the running stats.
