It’s going to take an awful long time with stuff like buying Moreno who is maybe a slight improvement on Digne who we bought as a slight improvement on Targett.
Glacial.
I think the problem is that the improvement represented by Digne in no way correlates with the investment made. If we’d just replaced Targett with Moreno and saved ourselves £25m-odd we’d be fine. Moreno cost a similar amount to Targett after all.

I don't think Moreno is much of an upgrade on Digne, and I still think it's a bit odd that the only senior player we brought in was another left back.

He looks a yard too slow defensively at the moment. Going forward seems more consistent than Digne though. I am sure he will adapt to the Premier League given a few months.

Totally agree - same when Digne came in. However, I wonder whether Emery has the same idea as teams like Arsenal, where one fullback is more like an additional midfielder (look at some of Zinchenko's positions on Saturday) and the other is more defensively-minded.

I can imagine training this morning could be interesting. Not sure I've seen a Villa manager so pissed off in a post-match interview since maybe MON in his spikey days.

With Moreno, there's a chance he was bought knowing that he would fit in with the way Emery wants us to play (but are currently struggling to do so) rather than the way we are playing currently. As much about the players around him as it is about himself.

Not saying that'll be it, just suggesting it could be.

But do you think he’s an upgrade on Targett?

The fact Moreno is and speaks spainish and can come straight in to understanding Emery instructions clearly should not be underestimated.

Hutton signed by McLeish. it isn't exactly same but it's also in the eyes in dressing room report to me in our native tounge move.

Yes, you're right, and I'm sure that's it. I just think there are areas of the pitch where the need to get somebody in capable of playing Emery's way was a bit more urgent, and that would have led to a more immediate and noticeable improvement, than left back.

Well, he'll be an alliance. My theory is somewhat flawed on eyes on players behaviours and reporting back to Emery due to Moreno understanding of English and what's being said by others, but I feel Gerrard would not have signed him, and Emery can discuss things aswell as communication being straightforward with Moreno and the coaches.
He'll be an asset for the team and coaches for sure.
