Real Sociedad DOF apparently someone Emery rates very highly.

They had an amazing transfer window a few years back. In a few months they picked up all of David Silva, Nacho Monreal, Merino, Isak and Odegaard on a years loan.

Perfect mix of youth and experience and they finished 6th to quality for the europa and won Copa Del Rey for first time in 30 years.

If we want to be achieving stuff like that in near future those are sort of transfer windows we need to be conducting rather than flip flopping between buying potential or players coming up to 30 as happened with previous windows.

If they are going to bring him in, I hope they do it quickly. He needs time to get up to speed before the summer window.

He signed a new contract there two weeks ago, so it's not very likely.

Unless there's someone else that Emery sees in that role.

According to that Athletic article him and Lange work closely together so maybe he is happy with him.

Interesting read on Emery. Stats galore.

I like the chart near the bottom:

Adding build up in there is a massive improvement to most stats when it comes to trying to quantify attacking contribution. It shows how big a part Luiz is in what we do well going forward.

I get the impression that Lange is an analyst, and his job is to find players that meeting the club's requirements.  If the club's requirements are being now more influenced by Emery, I see no reason why they COULDN'T work well together.  I'm sure Lange's team has analysis on dozens, if not hundreds of target players, so if Emery is giving him a good brief on what he wants, and what attributes he prioritises in his players, I see no reason why Lange and his team can't find THOSE players instead of the ones they've been looking for previously?

Good stuff, although a bit poor for a site called The Analyst to start off an article with ‘9 points from 12 games’. I mean it’s kinda true, but you don’t get points from cup games so a bit harsh to lump it in with the points total.

He was sacked after the 12th round of fixtures so people are running with it, forgetting most teams had a blank round after the queen died. In most cases it annoys me enough that I don't take too much interest in the rest of the article but in this case the analysis further down is ok. I suspect it was the author that did sub-standard research in this case.

The team head coach and player recruiter work closely together. Thanks to Athletic for establishing that. Brilliant journalism. I suppose in other clubs they are at loggerheads.

Well according to some people our good players are only ever signed by the manager and our shite ones are 'Lange signings', so probably is worth clarifying.

Dunno where to leave this but I think Unai should go for Jadon Sancho. Not working at MU but he is a potential world class player. We could get him I reckon, wages may be an issue however. Maybe we need a thread for out of window transfer talk/speculation.

Potentially filed with Ireland, Bentley, Walcott, Welbeck, Dele-Alli, etc etc

Well he's made a decent comeback yesterday.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken of his pride at "magnificent" Jadon Sancho's goalscoring return to the Premier League.
Sancho spent three months battling physical and mental issues, with Ten Hag at one point saying the England winger was not fit enough to play.

It would be a 'no thanks' from me too especially when you factor in likely cost, wages etc.

Welbeck seems a harsh choice there he’s had a pretty solid career.
