I already have TOTAL confidence in Emery as our manager.

When that HT whistle blew last night, I had a gut feeling that we wouldn't lose that game. Lo and behold, he hooked the 'out of sorts' Digne, Ollie and Luiz (who all had a bad day at the office), tweaked a few things, and it swayed the game in our favour. The only thing I wasn't sure about was keeping Bailey on, who I thought whilst full of energy, was really struggling with any end product.... and then he almost netted the winner with the last kick of the game, so what do I know!?

We'd have been smashed last night if we'd have had any of our last few managers in charge. I'm loving how Emery can dictate and CHANGE our play style during a match - He's a brilliant appointment imo, and far beyond anything we could have hoped for.

You can see why he does well in cup competitions too - If we're difficult to beat, the worst we can expect is a draw... and in the later rounds that probably means a penalty shootout against our big World Cup winning Argentian shithouse!  FA Cup has our name on it this season - I'm telling you!

I’ll take the Spaniard who has won more.
Neither of them are Spaniards

Fair point. Juan must have felt patriotic enough to serve Spain as a player and coach, mind.

Neither of them are called Juan.

JULEN! I thought his surname was problematic enough!

Maybe about as patriotic as Sven Goran Eriksson managing England. Maybe he just wanted a crack at the international game

Let’s add another Spanish manager into the debate too - Pep.    Isn’t this a bit pointless? We have a credible manager whose CV says it all. Let’s be happy with what we have and not start trying to debate whether he’s the best Spanish manager or not.

If he gets Wolves playing consistently as well as he has since he took over, there's every chance they'll be competing with us where we want to be i.e the top half of the table.
That if Wolverhampton board will spend money,at this moment it doesn't look likely where I have got confidence that ours will

He also played for Spain as a player and was a coach for Spain at under-age level so I'd wager a little more emotionally invested than Sven. Not all Basque people are dyed in the wool independence fighters.

He's the first manager in a long long time that I have total trust in.

I know they aren't. I lived there for a few years. But all the ones I knew identified as Basques as opposed to Spanish. That didn't stop them using Spanish passports or speaking Spanish but they were very proud of their identity. Bit of an anomaly that there are 3 Prem managers from one province of the Basque Country

Just a heads up that it will be several changes to the line up.
Emery has said.
"We are going to prepare for the match thinking the objective is to win the FA Cup, not now [on Sunday], but if we can progress then maybe."

Clearly has a team ready that isn't all first choice. And in next stages he'll put out a stronger team.

Thanks for that analysis of what Dick said, F-V. Always good to get a heads-up on Dick.

Some really pathetic comments about the manager in the match thread.

Look at his CV and look at what we have won since 1996. We have been shite in the FA cup since 2015, Rome wasn't built in a day FFS

3 shots on target, defeat and all but one player playing shit at home to a 3rd division side will always be worthy of criticism. He fucked up. The team fucked up. Why the fuck should we accept that without comment?

The only thing more embarrassing than the managers coat was the way he managed the team today.

Unai Emery: "Yes, I'm really shocked. The mistake was a big mistake. The last five minutes we didn't control our mind. It's a message, we have to learn and improve. We can't think we are better, we are Aston Villa. I'm upset, sorry with our supporters. Each match gives us information."

Keeper playing it to a cm and the cm getting caught in possession, we've conceeded that exact same goal in 3 out of the 7 Emery games. I'm all for playing out from the back to create openings and that but these players simply can't do it.
