What I'm most impressed in watching him on the touchline is his reading of the game in real time and from a low angle. That ability to direct from the side is special. Gone are the days of 'a' formation or a set best 11, it's so fluid and tailored.

I avoided all of the official interviews pre-match not wanting to get over-excited (made that mistake again recently), but after seeing the post-match BBC interview I think he might be the one.

I'm happy for him to walk off and let the players take the celebrations at the end. He sounds like such an obsessive that he'd have immediately got to work on analysing the second half.

I preferred Deano's consistency of always waiting by the tunnel win or lose to Gerrard coming on the pitch when we the result was good. Gerrard created a stick for us to beat him with when he started to do his vanishing act after bad results

Yes, Gerrard made it about himself for the Everton and Manchester United games.

There were warning signs there about him, yet many were delighted at how he stared down the Everton fans at Goodison. I thought it was pathetic and he hadn't realised he wasn't a player anymore.

Emery actions in directing from the touchline speak louder than Gerrards words and behavior as to what sort of manager we have. I'm so pleased we have Emery feel so positive about things! Optimism is very high right now!

I think it was his way of saying, great, really pleased with that but there's still loads to do so lets not make it look like we've just won the cup. The fans will have been more ecstatic with it of course because many have been around since 95.

Yep, I was in the North Stand and noticed his brisk walk down the tunnel after the game as well.  I agree that it might have been a way of saying "great win, but don't want to get carried away", he might have wanted to let the players have the limelight or he might, of course, have desperately needed a massive crap!!

He seems a very respectful bloke who doesn’t crave the spotlight. He’s happy to coach the squad, do his job on a matchday and then repeat. When I see the likes of Conte and Arteta I’m just glad he’s not like them. There’s being animated and then there’s what you see with them. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Well yes, a Saturday night vindaloo up Sparkbrook and then all that motion on the touch line could have really set things off.

Arteta isn't so bad but Conte and Touchel are downright embarrassing at times. Show your emotions by all means but we and everybody knows that you're not fans of the club you're just doing your job as the manager of whichever club you are currently managing. I blame Mourinho for this trend of excessive over the top behaviour.

I'm with you on the Emery comment, but i think Gerrard handled the Everton thing about as well as he could. He didn't handle much else very well mind.

Gerrard was, it's becoming evident, basically Billy McBingo with a scouse accent.

It's early days, but Emery could be the very epitome of a successful Aston Villa - get the job done, no ego, quality football, let the players do the talking on the pitch, substance over fame.

The more you look at the players since he left the more you realise they must have hated him being in charge, he was obviously useless at man management, And as it turned out management in general
