Fuck knows what the formation was at the end but who cares.

We thought it was a 4222, ramsey and emi sort of inside forwards.

What a way to start. I mean, incredible. Start your villa management career by ending the 27 year hoodoo that lot have over us?
Has there been a better start to a villa managerial career?
The closest I can remember was O Neill's first game where we were very unlucky not to beat Arsenal in their first Emirates match. We've certainly outdone that.
Before that, Gregory 2-1 against Liverpool. Collymore scoring 2

Big Ron at Hillsborough
The best away day in England for Villa!

For anyone who wasn't at Everton in 1990.

I was at both and it's a tough call

What I like most about todays win, and there is lots to like, is that not only did he prepare us brilliantly in just a few days, that I have no doubt he will do so again for the cup game. Even if we lose it won’t be because we look a fucking mess.

The smile on Sansom’s face says it all.

It was mostly midfield, that's all I can say.

There is talk on here about formation and tactics and the spirit shown by our players all attributed to Unai. This is good but we will be in a better position to judge Unai's impact into the new year around about end of Feb however for now I would say THANK YOU el maestro for winning the game and also killing the hoodoo and stopping the hurt of 27 years.

Reckon that this result will mean that all the players buy in to his ideas.

Look at his selection of Sanson who was rescued from the vault that SG had locked him away in all these months.

The substitutes were all given specific instructions - telling them that they weren't just going on to run the clock down, but to make a positive contribution - "... you're going on to ADD to the team performance."

i.e  I value you albeit you weren't a starter - we're all in this together and being a sub is as important as being a starter.

The really amazing and important thing is that I can think of one person who knew exactly what the hell was going on. We haven't had someone this on-line with the tactical landscape in God knows how long.

He will have bad days, but literally in the space of days you can see he’s having an impact. A manager who understands tactical flexibility - we have a real one here.

It is pretty funny that he has done something that thirteen of his predecessors couldn't in his very first game!

Probably a terrible mistake, but I'm beginning to get very, very excited.

In his post match interview Unai stated that we looked to exploit the spaces Man Utd left. This was where Ramsey & to a lesser extent Buendia excelled. A manager who takes the time to find & exploit the other teams weakness & it worked a treat.

Early days but I'm optimistic we've got a manager fit for our great club.
