Just listened to the presser - it was so refreshing to not hear Unai wax on about how big of a club we are, our history, and all that bollox - it makes for great sound bites, but it's irrelevant claptrap. Instead he talked about the attraction being the project & the ambition which feels both truthful and compelling.

History and fawning over how big we are is for us fans - for him, just pages in a history book. He is focused on our future, and not our past.

My attitude is show me don't tell me. Sick of hearing about projects, perfect fits etc. As for Purslow  he should be neither seen nor heard.

Absolutely, he didn't sound like a man who couldn't believe his luck at landing the job. He sounded like a man confident in his own ability, who actually had a decision to make, gave it serious thought and is happy with his choice.

He won't be overawed by the challenge or broken by our ludicrously, insanely high expectations*. It all feels like a brilliant fit.

*Not entirely serious

I hadn’t watched this before but I felt a stir in my loins afterwards

This is what we are talking about! Gets us going!
And the thing is this manager has got the capabilities and experience to bring that to certain players here as well as those new players coming in who will fit in.
Exciting indeed!

Well if you are that old you might die extremely depressed, or you could embrace a once in a life time exciting new chapter of the greatest football club on earth

We'd better finish top 6 and win the FA Cup this season. I'm watching you Unai!

You get one question at the press conference and your journalistic mindset drives you to ask “did you watch Peaky Blinders?” FFS.

You’ve seen us win the title and European Cup then? I didn’t and I’m not going into this negatively.

I truly am. I can't think of a bigger, star-is-high manager to come to Villa. We now have the ownership and the coaching to really build upwards. I'm so excited to see where Villa go now.

I've just read this on the Sky website:

'Emery was sacked after just 18 months in the role "due to results and performances not being at the level required", according to a club statement. On the playing side, it is understood Arsenal players had lost faith in Emery and his methods, while his communication was a big issue.30 Nov 2019'

As I said previously don't tell me show me. I'll be delighted if he proves to be as good as some hope. Until I see some evidence I'll refrain from letting hope get the better of experience.
