Apparently, Emile Smith Rowe was given his 'chance' by Unai Emery. One of our previous targets. Wonder if we will try again?

That aside, billionaires , do not pay for a marquee manager without having a treasure chest available for a marquee player. The mind can boggle!!

Harry Kane fits Emery's preferred style of play. Spuds are going nowhere, Arse wouldn't dare buy him, City have Haaland, Liverpool just bought Nunez. Only leaves Man Utd, Newcastle and us who can afford him.

Just a thought.

How many Villas do we need?

Let's copy the Ramones and just give everybody the surname Villa.

Found this online from Nov 2021:

"In England that identification with your team brings the game alive. It’s deeper there, like a church.

"I was born in San Sebastián and my team is Real Sociedad. That feeling is in my heart and that’s what you find in England.

"It’s marvellous, the loveliest thing there is.”

"Fans want their emotions to come to the surface and the only to way to make that happen is to give them a team that transmits emotion: intensity, attacking, scoring goals, competing, fighting. That awakens them. The fans want emotions.”

Dunno how many here visited San Sebastian for one of our UEFA Cup games in the late 90s. A few of us travelled to Bordeaux, Bilbao, Bucharest and Madrid in 1997/8, but the best time we had was with the Basques in San Sebastian and Bilbao. They are indeed passionate but they also acknowledged our own passion for Villa. So welcoming, hugging us, drinking with us, they even applauded us after the final whistle, and we applauded them back. We almost had two girl Athletic fans come back home with us on the coach! My point is Unai Emery is a Basque with the same attitude, our success or otherwise won't be for lack of passion...

A crazy one.  But yes a thought I guess.

He'll go abroad or to Man U if he leaves.

I was in Bilbao just over a week ago for a Soul Festival Event - was my second time there - Its great city to visit and the people are indeed very friendly - visited their stadium a couple of times and
was made most welcome - their logo is a Lion too

Spurs minus Kane would not (in my opinion) have done quite so well as they have this past 5 or 6 years.  It's that kind of player we need (we had that in Grealish of course) supported by a few other top players to have serious hope of crashing into the big league again.  Kane won't come at this point in his career, but Emery coming in will raise our profile in such a way that younger (probably spanish) versions of Kane might well do.  And not just old Liverpool players.

The Times reporting coaches Pablo Villanueva & Antonio Rodriguez will be joining him at the home of football.

Only 2 coaches? Who's going to fill the other 18 seats on the bench?

Watching that first YT video he doesn’t need anybody else!

How are people feeling in general now that Emery is in charge? Are they happy and excited, but also cautious given what happened when he previously managed in England? He was outstanding in Spain, and I believe he will need to bring in a number of players who will complement his philosophy. In my opinion, he is more qualified and experienced than Steven Gerrard.

Some of the players' adaptation may be excessive, but some will also succeed. Therefore, I'm hoping for improvement this season along with a more disciplined and established style of play, identity, and teamwork, though there may occasionally be a mix of these things.
Having said that, all indications are very encouraging. My concerns are less with the manager and his coaching staff and more with the squad as a whole, specifically with regard to their ability to play consistently well and their players' demonstration of the necessary football intelligence skills.

McGinn and Cash, in my opinion, could be replaced because they lack football intelligence and I believe Emery may not be completely sold on them as players.
McGinn especially isn't much use for Villa in my view and must be upgraded and given a far less prominent role within the squad.

Danks is a club appointee, and frankly we'd be mad to let him go https://playerdevelopmentproject.com/masterclass-discussions-the-specialist-coach-a-conversation-with-aaron-danks/

To me Danks is best described as a development coach.
He's good and all, but we don't need to care too much if he's kept or not if we can trust how things are going

I believe he has some abilities to work with players in sessions, but if he isn't on the same wavelength as Emery's philosophy, he won't be of much use.

I hope there is a reason for him to be at the club, but if he is let go, it will be for the greater good, and if he is kept, it will be for the greater good too, regardless of Emery's appointment as Danks fits a project which I hope all staff incoming and existing are aligned with

So it's a win-win situation in either case.
Case of co ordination

Danks is a tricky one.  Highly regarded but before the Brentford game I imagine most of us would have asked what he actually does.  He seems a good sort and hopefully Emery can make use of him in the 1st team set up, but if not then unless he moves to working with the youth teams I can't see much point keeping him on if he's just a spare part.
