Yup he’s all about the double pivot and wide forwards. He’s a top coach and he’s also got the right players for his preferred system.

A smart appointment. He's a manager with a track record of improving players and winning cups. Assuming he hasn't been sounded out for weeks, the speed at which he's been appointed also demonstrates that he's convinced about Villa. I think the fact that Arsenal binned him will also see an extra motivated manager to prove himself in the Premier League. Oh and it'll pee off the Keeganites who will undoubtedly see it as some sort of slight no matter what. Wolves fans angry because it took us a few days to get a good manager in whilst they're on the road to nowhere. The Leceister fans I know wanting Rodgers out...a good day.

Slight worry that I read he plays with ‘inverted wide midfielders covering the full backs who push on’.

We’ve seen that before, recently

Surely it's got to be the Kolo/Yaya Tourè song for him?

Amazing appointment.

Found this online from Nov 2021:

Before taking up the role at the Mestalla Stadium last summer, Emery spoke to Sid Lowe at The Guardian and confirmed his interest in returning back to England, if a ‘good project’ became available:

"If there’s a good project in England, if someone wants me and is prepared to get behind me, I’m available…

"In England that identification with your team brings the game alive. It’s deeper there, like a church.

"I was born in San Sebastián and my team is Real Sociedad. That feeling is in my heart and that’s what you find in England.

"It’s marvellous, the loveliest thing there is.”

"Fans want their emotions to come to the surface and the only to way to make that happen is to give them a team that transmits emotion: intensity, attacking, scoring goals, competing, fighting. That awakens them. The fans want emotions.”

I might go and have a wank

Fantastic appointment, very happy I can believe again.

Linekers a twat "Good luck and good eebbening to Unai Emery, who is the new manager/coach of
@AVFCOfficial".

Already mentioned on here none of that please.
.

Urgh it’s pretty shameful that.

It's not his first language, and it doesn't matter how he pronounces it. Fuck off Lineker and leave our Unai alone!

Didn't see this one coming, a genuinely World class manager. I don't really do much football social media these days, was he mentioned in dispatches when potential managers were being bandied about?

A fantastic appointment. Finally a manager with real pedigree. For me this re-affirms the owners ambitions for our team on the pitch where it ultimately matters. UTV!

Will they make him stand on a chair and sing an induction song?

I bet he sings "shit on the City".

What formation does he like to play?

Emery likes 4-2-3-1 and would have been so impressed with what he witnessed vs Brentford. He loves aggressive players. Emi Buendia could be the big one to benefit; similar to Éver Banega who Emery adored
