I've got to give it the funny fags - I keep imagining we slaughtered Brentford yesterday and appointed a top European coach today.....

Probably best to go an have a lie down matey.

Wolves fans on Molineux Mix lamenting why they didn’t get him when they are obviously much bigger.

Superb appointment. Deano was a huge gamble by Purslow that worked out, imo. Gerrard was the gamble that didn't. This isn't a gamble at all, solid coach.

Good thing with the World Cup it's only 5 games until the transfer window opens, and surely he must have been promised the keys to the sweet shop to accept the job?

We've got a great squad and foundation. A couple of great recruits and we'll be flying high.

Without looking into it, don’t think he’s been sacked before apart from Arsenal.
He finished 5th, one point off fourth and got to Europa league final, so not exactly failure there either…

Amazing pedigree of manager, Welcome Unai

Very good appointment and impressive how quickly the club have moved to get it done.  Hopefully some exciting times ahead.

WOW!!; this is a major statement as to the direction the owners are wanting the club to go.
Emery is that step below the level and status of Pep, Klopp, Zidane et al.

I'm sure he was mentioned as a manager Newcastle's new wealthy owners were trying to attract.

A very interesting and exciting appointment out the blue, and maybe the most significant appointment since GT 1987 in restoring the club name and reputation.

He turned Newcastle down apparently, for reasons unknown. Maybe he's got morals.

Wow, I genuinely didn’t see this coming. Obviously the talk of Poch and then the emergence of the Portuguese fella, until today I never thought this would happen.

I've been reading around and in some quarters there's a perception that Emery is an excellent cup manager but not a league manager.  Fine by me, we're not going win it anyway but progress and a couple of trophies will do me very nicely.
