The only Villa manager I genuinely despise is Martin O'Neill. Bruce was just an old fashioned dinosaur who should have been pensioned off years ago. You only have to look at the immediate and vast improvements in the results at Villa, Newcastle and West Brom after he was sacked from all three to see that he just can't cut it any more.

Yes, he does a job and was needed after the needless Di Matteo experiment. But he was always gone when Xia was because he just can't do more then "maybe promotion".

Isn't is standard for new managers bounce to make the outgoing boss look like a div? Even Gerrard managed it with us.

I also don't hate Bruce. I think he's a chancer, and a not very bright one. Gerrard, on the other hand, can absolutely climb into a big, shitty bucket marked 'fuck off forever'.

Don’t hate Bruce at all, he was just limited.

Bruce plugged the holes in the ship, but possessed limited knowledge of navigation beyond pulling wor eye patches on up.

With us and the other two clubs it was both immediate and sustained. From flirting with relegation to top 6 in all cases. And all you got from him was constant moaning about the fans, again at all three clubs. "They don't want me, it's off wi mi head, they don't understand me, there's a lack of respect, waaaaah, waaaaaah."

I am glad Unai has signed a new deal.  All those worrying links with Blues can now be put to rest.

Who on earth is Royale?!

Hoddle was actually shaping up to be a decent modern manager, he was just a bit mental.

Hoddle wasn't a dinosaur he was a trailblazer. Who can forget Eileen Drury and her inspirational talks to the England players?
