If only wed backed Bruce in the same manner.
Bruce did his job , stabilised the club, steadied the ship , made some excellent signings and moved on when he could give no more. Always appreciate his work.
Hear! Hear!
Yeah spot on. Don't understand the lack of respect . Worked through losing both parents a very difficult situation for any human being. Some of the abuse (cabbage etc) this clubs fans are better than that .

He really didn't do too badly when you consider the other jokers we've had. And he did sign McGinn, which it's fair to say worked out.

Just a completely different world from where we are now though, and not a better one either. And he very seriously failed to help himself with some of the stuff he said, nor being incredibly tactically backward.

Can we leave the Bruce talk as it has nothing to do with Unai Emery.

I lovde the quite about no limit to our dreams.  I hope this means we really means business in the transfer market.  One of the very best in the world and he manages Aston Villa.  Fantastic.

He was the right bloke for that particular dark spell in our recent past.

Then Deano came in, and the rest is history!

Back to the original thread subject matter, I hope Unai won't be moonlighting on Spanish TV during the Euros! I can't imagine him coming out with one cliche after another during a highlights programme!

More good than bad with Bruce, I felt at the time and still do. Couldn't say that about any other manager we had from MON's departure until 2016.

I do get the discomfort some felt seeing him in our dugout, mind. He's def of the Allardyce/ Pulis/ Dyche persuasion and in normal times a manager of that calibre should be nowhere near the Villa job.

But those weren't normal times.

Doubt Emery will do TV work at the Euros , he's more professional than that .

Someone in the non-Villa media praised the great man for not making excuses about injuries (unlike the chap at Man Utd). I thought it was only noticed by us. (Barry Glendenning on the Guardian podcast)

When he said it, I thought 'I think that's the only time I've ever heard it mentioned?'. I don't think I have, anyway (outside of here).

As I think I read on Twitter, Bruce steadied the ship, Deano turned it around and Emery turned it into a super yacht.

Fair play. About time someone noticed.

Also when we inevitably go through a bad patch can we give him some slack? Hes clearly hot goodwill in the back.

In fairness to him hes said similar several times, when the injury happened he said he thought the loss of Kamara might do for us. Then in the run in pointed back to the fact how we were doing so well considering.

There will always be injuries , but to lose your best CB, your best DM and best Nr 10 and still get 4th is remarkable.
