As good as Unai is there is time when we all have to learn from experience. So, he got schooled by Fonseca over two legs and they were by far the better team. We are through because of Emi, 3 world class saves at VP and 2 pens in Lille. Unai will no doubt reflect on that.

Agreed, but to Unai’s credit, he’s doing all he can with a massively depleted squad. Not that he’ll mention that.

Without wishing to be argumentative but I’m not so sure he got schooled. Lille seemed strangely unwilling to absolutely put us to the sword when they were much the better team over there and I’m sure it’s because Fonseca wouldn’t let his team fully off the leash as he was so shit scared of what we could do to them as was proved when Bailey and Duran came on and the momentum of the tie started to change. I’m not trying to put a gloss on this, we were utter shite for about 85 mins but Lille should have been out of site by then.

The only schooling that took place was Unai the master showing Fonseca the pupil how you win when the chips are down.

He has done it time and time again. Pretty football only gets you so far.

Agree, if ever a team looked like it was for the taking, but they bottled it.

It'll go to the league winner.

It shouldn't though unless its a team outside the "Big Clubs".

Joe Kinnear got it for Wimbedon in '94 after they came 6th. Rest easy, big Joe.

Quite. How very Man U of us. I like that we have developed a bit of a reputation for surviving against the ropes and then banging a left hook to the temple to get something positive from games.

Don’t agree he got schooled over two games. They were better than us on Thursday over 90 mins, no doubt, but we had the better chances in extra time.
In the home game they had a lot of the ball and created chances and we had a lot of the ball and scored more goals.

If I see him in the street I am going to run over and bow down then kiss his feet.

Then I will take my coat off and lay it over a puddle so he can carry on walking.

Its only right.

Why would he need the coat, he will just levitate over the top of the water.

Yes, they were guilty of not building on their lead.

It was a reflection of the home game where we were well on top, but not really creating enough, until we got the 2nd and then we let them back in and hung on.
