93 for MC, 85 for us. Arsenal and Liverpool on 81, both played 41.

Love Unai, he has transformed the whole club.

Here’s to a similar 2024!

Away from home, the only teams who have conceded more than our 19 are Sheffield Utd, Fulham, Luton, Forest, Bournemouth and West Ham. Newcastle are second bottom of the 'away' table, which is a crazy disparity from their home form.

5 of those 19 came in the first game of the season which was a match with a really particular set of circumstances.

I don’t understand.  I am as hard to impress as anyone but I don’t get why you seem so determined to find the cloud to this silver lining.

Yeah our away form could be better, but when you win 15 home games in a row, it is a tough audience that worries too much about it.

We are second in the league and are only a little over a year into this ‘project’.

To have got where we are is incredible but even more so when you think of the absolute shambles that fraud Gerrard left Emery to start with.

If he does even remotely as good in the second half of the season as the first, we are in for an incredible finish

I’d like to think for the vast majority of those criticizing Emery it’s momentary and emotional. But unless you’re fucking off your head, when things calm down it’s almost impossible not to be highly complimentary of what he’s done and achieved in just over 12 months.
Eh? Who has been criticising Unai Emery?

Is it Cooper's Injury and Sickbeggar?

I'm not massively aware of anybody offering anything beyond the "why's he picking/play that".  Best manager of my Villa following life.  Without doubt the most consistently  happy I've been (only date back to 89 as my first visit to VP)

Our away form isn’t too bad. It’s just not magnificent, which if it was we’d be well ahead of the pack.

I'm removed the name as it's not a name and shame post, but there's been stuff like this. Which was a few days ago.

That was from one of our well known trolls/WUMs so was ignored anyway.

Any Villa fan giving Emery shit just needs to rewind the last 20 years of post match managerial interviews to realise how blessed they are.

I genuinely don't understand the use of the word "bottle" in this context. It refers to courage, and there's no way you can accuse anyone at Villa of lacking in that department this past year.

Tactical misjudgements, tiredness, individual errors, lack of sharpness, yeah fair enough. They happen, and pointing them out occasionally doesn't mean you think Emery and the staff and players aren't doing a fucking incredible job overall.

But not courage or commitment. The huge number of late goals we score alone puts that argument to bed instantly. This team has more bottle than a Guinness factory.

There is someone who replies to any Villa Twitter posts stating things like "Emery has been found out like he was at Arsenal" with any slight downturn. Even has a go after every win being on the side of any contentious decision. Strangely also states he isn't a midland football supporter but replies to blues posts with a positive. I expect that might be an alter-ego of someone who is on here, or has been on here previously.

I'm not attempting to find any clouds, just stating that there's a big disparity between our home and away form, as there is for most teams.

Aston Villa have won more home games (17) and earned more home points (53) in the Premier League in 2023 than any other side.
