Some fans seem to be much more critical of an Emery defeat than they ever were after a Sir Stevie G one.

That's because people expect more from someone so good.

I know we tend to go off on a tangent - but please can we not sully this thread with past incompetents.

Past incompetent sounds like some sort of very obscure grammatical terminology. I've barely mastered nouns and verbs, and still get nervous about apostrophes.

He could have shut the game down at 2-0 and asked them to break us down second half, but decided not to. That’s on him.

It’s a very minor blip in what’s been an amazing ride so far. Having injuries and suspensions to what is a very thin squad was always going to mean results like this could happen.
There’s not a chance in hell I’m putting this result at his feet. It was just a very tired performance from a side trying to cope with injuries and suspensions to major players.
We have a top coach who’s very experienced and there’s no way this will divert him from his plans.

Not sure what he was on about that we controlled the game for an hour. Seemed to set a lot of importance on the two quick chances after United goals that we made. Apart from that, we did bugger-all in their final third after our second goal.

He's now at a bad place, let's see how he comes out of it!

It was unusual to see Emery not make changes earlier, it was obvious that JJ was struggling. Pau has been a loss, hope he's fit for the next game. Emery i'm certain knows the limitations of the squad he has at his disposal and I am eagerly awaiting to see who he brings in.

I was baffled by that. United’s only tactic was to try to get in behind, and we never stopped encouraging them. Why we didn’t drop off and make them try to play through us, I’ll never know. We had a lot of success last season getting ahead away from home and then being very difficult to break down.

In two games he has made by his lofty standards two very bad tactical decisions that have cost us. Go ten yards further back in the 2nd half last night and you probably close the game out and grab a third along the way.

This is his first poor run of form under us.

We have been poor since city. We rode our luck vs arsenal and brentford tbh.

I think he was quite kind to the players with his post match but i think behind the scenes he is livid with what he saw. They were fucking awful that 2nd half. Just played like absolute losers. They played like utd have most of the season

Two games, with 1 defeat, constitutes a run now.

Yes, you made this point on the other thread and I completely agree.

I remember watching Brighton away last season, as you mentioned, and being relatively relaxed all the way to the final whistle as we just looked so tight. And it wasn't the only away game where we did that.

The change and the lack of pragmatism is perplexing. If we were controlling away games like we do at home, it would be fine and dandy, but we just never look dominant on our travels.
