What PWa said. That was a comical attempt today. We can do it, and do it well. We've seen it in action in the past.

He got if badly wrong from the off today. McGinn gave Burn a torrid time at VP, Bailey did fuck all.

The high line didn't start very well, but it looked decidedly more ragged after Mings went off.

We know he is the organiser at the back, will Torres be an adequate replacement going forward as he needs to be.

I suspect Bailey wouldn't have started if Buendia was fit and McGinn would have been on the right. However Emery does have a blind spot in relation to Bailey, a player who has very rarely shown up in big matches and never shown up away.

Pau had a disastrous day, but I’m assuming he’s played the high line for Emery before so must have a much better understanding than he showed.

Pau is settling in and learning the language so that needs to be understood.

Konsa has been a regular at this level for four seasons now so of the two he should step up and be the "senior" CB but we all saw his efforts for the third so I get the feeling he's going to be making a few more of those errors without Mings barking out orders to keep him awake.

Or we sign someone else and he loses his place or goes to RB.

I would really worry about Konsa without Mings next to him. Watching back those goals Konsa was awful for nearly all of them. I'd go with Carlos/Torres next week.

I hope Unai blew his top after the match. So far he's come across like a lovely man who would put his arm round you and support you. Today doesn't need that sort of response. Today needs a stern talking to.

Today Emery got it wrong. Here’s what I have faith in. That he will work even harder to get it right. He won’t just say we go again, or we need to roll up our socks or sleeves. The players are in for a long session of film and coaching.

Good post. I trust him so much.

Also there’s an element in this of basic individual errors and a lack of precision. It’s not like they had 30 shots and we had 2. They just did much more with their chances and we helped them.

There is that too. It wasn’t all on Emery but aspects certainly were down to players he chose and tactics. Newcastle took full advantage and it’s going to happen at the top end. We beat top teams last year and top teams get beaten throughout the season. Sometimes worse than us today. I have absolutely no doubt that we will bounce back from this and have a great season.

Konsa has never looked convincing on the few occasions he's not had Mings alongside him.

Nice words.

"We lost one game. A bad result but we will regain our power."

Bring the power back to B6, Unai!
