The biggest difference between this and MoN is that Sawaris and Edens won't take the bullshit that Lerner did.
And the hair. MON could only dream of having that mane.
The difference with O'Neill is that this feels strategic and more structured, rather than a power play to sooth someone's ego. We have a genius in charge, we need to give him all the tools he wants to get to work effectively. Now's the time to really go for it.

I think that is a pretty major difference - I suspect MON was very suspicious of people in those roles and didn't want them 'interfering'. UE on the other hand, sees the merit of those roles and acknowledging that importance, wants people in there who he can trust and work with.
I love what Emery has done so far and am very excited for the future. But giving a manager this much control doesn't always end well. We do seem to be putting all our eggs in one basket and if it does go wrong it feels like we'd be in post O'Neil territory. Are there any other clubs where the manager has this much influence?

Maybe if O’Neill had had the foresight to realise he’s not the second coming of Brian Clough and looked for some different views he wouldn’t have been so utterly out of his depth. If Lerner had also had the foresight to insist on senior appointments to help protect his investment he wouldn’t have ended up spunking nigh on half a billion quid up the wall for three 6th place finishes and a League Cup Finalists roll of “honour”. Pair of clowns.
