Emery closing in on Sevilla's DoF....

https://www.football-espana.net/2023/06/06/sevilla-sporting-director-monchi-considering-exit-after-europa-league-victory

I'm maybe biased due to being close friends with a number of Roma supporters but they hate Monchi with a passion that is hard to believe for that kind of position. It seems universal across their entire fan base.

Not for nothing does he have the reputation as the kneesiest of bees. His Roma spell was a bit of a disaster, but no-one averages 100.

I'm sure people on here will be thrilled to learn Robin Olsen was one of his many successes at Roma...

'The Messi of Recruitment' certainly sounds appealing for a label.

"Who remembers Robin Olsen in a Roma shirt? William Banda? Ante Coric? Those three signings cost €24m ($25m)".

Ive heard enough!

Sound like they were the Andrea Silenzis of their time.

Yeah I don't think a failure like that on your CV is always a bad thing (unless it happens at your club of course!) if lessons are learnt and they enable a person to come back stronger.

He didn't have Emery with him at Roma. Emery's going to know everything he needs to know about a player and how he would fit into his plans before he approves a signing. Presumably Emery and Monchi worked together at Sevilla.

Whoever heads up the recruitment department will do all the leg work before Emery reviews it. As long as it's Emery taking the decisions, the DoF then can do the work of bringing them in. I don't think it's a problem.

Admit it, everyone that watched it tried to do the cloud summon as well as he did.

His current Sevilla stint isn't exactly glorious. The side he put together in the early/mid 2000s was outstanding but this time there are an awful lot of balls dropped.

So maybe he needs Emery. But it could also be a bit like getting excited about Wenger being your manager on the basis of what he was doing 20 years ago.
