Learning French or German is hard, I've tried, and it means I have the greatest of respect for someone like Bad English who has truly mastered it.

But English? Come on, it's a piece of piss. I was fluent in it before I even started school, as were my kids. Anyone that can't speak it is just lazy in my book.

Steady on mate, I was struggling at times on Saturday!

It takes a fucking long time to learn a language, even if you restrict it to the language of football.

Mings isn't going to do a few out of hours zoom lessons and suddenly find himself able to organise the team during matches, in Spanish.

My mate Philippe did say that he understood Martin better than Lee with his magnificent Brummie talk.

I did try, but could tell he had that kind of glazed look when I was trying to explain to him that the guy that hoofed the ball into his own net used to play for his team, Lyon.

Believe it or not, not everyone in the world speaks fucking English!!

I agree with this, however if you move to play football in England it's a bit weird to not learn some of the language given media requirements, etc.

More generally making some effort when you move to another country for any reason should be expected. I went to Norway and learned enough to get by despite most of the people I spoke to speaking fluent English and being happy to switch if I didn't know the right Norwegian words/phrases.
