I'm baffled why we'd let somebody like Cutler go, but have kept MacPhee on.

Emery has apparently always worked with the same goalkeeper coach and brought him with him. Maybe he didn't have a set piece coach? I dunno.

Sooner or later somebody has got to work out that MacPhee is a dud. It's back to Lambert era Cornerlties at the moment, we just can't defend them.

Arsenal and Aston Villa analysts fight in the stands

A heated argument briefly turned physical after Emiliano Martinez scored an own goal and then allowed in Arsenal's fourth

Aston Villa and Arsenal staff came to blows in the stands at Villa Park after Emiliano Martinez’s dramatic own goal secured three precious points for Mikel Arteta’s side. Eyewitnesses in the press box reported a furious war of words, which Telegraph Sport understands to have briefly turned physical, between analysts of Villa and Arsenal.

Victor Manas, Unai Emery’s data and video analyst who worked with the Spaniard during his time at the Emirates Stadium, is understood to have been involved in the fracas. An Arsenal analyst, Miguel Molina, subsequently left the press box in an attempt to calm the situation, Telegraph Sport understands.

Onlookers said it seemed that Villa’s staff had reacted angrily to the nature of the celebrations of Arsenal’s analysts, and had made their feelings known.

“Like anything that happens in the stands, we will look at it, address it and take action if it’s necessary," said Arteta.
I wonder what an analyst v analyst "fracas" looks like.

There's enough positives for me not to be worried. Even in these 3 defeats, which has included what are comfortably the 2 best sides in the country, we scored 5 goals. Compare to that to the utterly inept shit of scoring 7 in 11 games to start the season under that charlatan Gerrard. There's issue to be fixed but i'm way more confident in Emery fixing them than I ever was of Action Man hair ever being able to be beat someone better than a Brighton side in one of their lengthy shit runs.

This is where I'm at, me and my brother were discussing Lambert era cornerlties earlier (although it isn't that bad).

I do have faith in Emery though. I do think he's the best manager we have had for a long time... but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be criticised. That's all I see most people doing.

One of their analysts may have made a comment about McAfee being shit and it was misunderstood by our lads.

I can see a situation were by we replace 4 of our back 5 in the Summer, I can also see a situation were by we are yet again writing off half of the season while they bed in. January was such a fuck up from our board.

Three weeks ago we were 3 points off 6th place. It’s now 10 points behind. I don’t think much of the emperor’s new clothes.

Yet you were supporting Gerrard in the same position. What's the difference?

He’s got the same record as Gerrard after ten games but Gerrard had easier games at least the first few.  Time and again these players have proved that they’re not good enough beyond lower mid table.  They’ll also probably strop now for a couple of weeks because he dug out his goalkeeper who despite his greatness ignored the managers orders.  I’m not sure who will stump up the cash for him but I’ll bet Emery wants rid of him.

Jesus Christ I can't believe some of the negativity on here. Sometimes I do wonder about Villa fans. Emery is an Elite manager only months into the job and yet people aren't 'convinced'. What do people expect. We are a mid-table squad trying to take on a new style of play. It will take time. I've seen positives under Emery in every game so far,  even when we have lost. Emery knows what Villa need. After all the shit managers we have had to endure over the past 20-30 years, I'm amazed that people don't have just a little more patience and faith in him.

Most do. It’s a minority who constantly keep wanting to change managers every ducking 4 months and expect miracles. It’s called entitlement.

Interesting post-match quotes from him on Pravda, positively Pravda-unfriendly:

Quote

“I’m really frustrated,” Emery told VillaTV post-match.

“It’s embarrassing to do the same in two matches, each goal (4-2), at home here with our supporters.

“I don’t know exactly, but we are not playing, being competitive at home.

“And we are not playing, really, in the idea I want in the team. I don’t know exactly why.

“I think we are playing with intensity, we are playing with passion, running, scoring goals quickly. But we are not playing football controlling the ball, the game, controlling the positioning, of the time in the 90 minutes.

“We are scoring one goal quickly and we are waiting in the 90 minutes, pass as soon as possible and don’t play the match in the way we were preparing – being consistent and being confident in the 90 minutes in our ideal style.

“And, really, I’m disappointed because I think the reaction will be quick and being very, very different like we have shown in the last two matches against Leicester and today.”

I would put money on Emery being here in a years time and results and performances improving. How long did it take before realising Gerrard was another version of Sherwood?
