He has to be given the time and space to be allowed to watch all of his players in a competitive environment.  The fact that Olsen and a few others were poor gives people the chance to ave a pop, but I trust Emery's judgement and am sure that we won't be doing the same in the FA Cup.  He will have learnt a great deal from that defeat.

Why did he need to see Olsen? He's only ever going to play if Martinez is injured, and then he won't have any choice but to play him. It's not like an outfield player where you might rotate the defnce or midfield to give a certain player a rest. As it is, they've all got a month off coming up now anyway.

Had Olsen have had a decent game, would you be as pissed off as you are?  He has to play him some time and we have to see players play.  For all we know, Emery might be planning a bit of a cull and only has a limited time, because of the WC to see some of them on the pitch.   Personally, I think Olsen is shit and would rather have seen Emi play, but I can also understand why he didn't.  We have several players who I'd like to bin, Olsen is one of them.

I hardly think it was a hugely demoralising performance Risso. Now who's getting their knickers in a twist?

If you don't think losing 4-2 after leading twice and your keeper giving one of the worst performances ever is demoralising then you're one of the people Percy is referring to above.

I drove back from the game feeling disappointed we missed an opportunity not demoralised. Getting battered 3-0 by Fulham was demoralising.
Everyone is entitled to their views on Thursdays game and the new managers role in it, but in my opinion some of the direction of the posts are OTT. He made some decisions being new in post and wanting to see all his players play, some, not all, of those decisions didn’t come off, notably Olsen, McGinn and i would also say Chambers and Ings. But some of his decisions in my opinion did come off, Kamara was excellent. Being out of the cup like that is disappointing but i could still see patterns of play being attempted (sometimes badly) that weren’t happening under Gerrard. So given all of that Thursday in the grand scale of things isn’t the end of the world…..as long as he plays Martinez tomorrow.

If I won £100 on the Euromillions I'd be pleased instead of matching no numbers. And coincidentally, it's about as likely as Olsen ever having a good game. He was shit for Sheffield United, he's shit for Sweden, and he's shit for us. He's the goalkeeping equivalent of Steve Bruce, stealing a living.

No, it's gone. I was surprised at the team he picked just as much as you were but coming out with words like demoralising whilst accusing people of getting their knickers in a twist is laughable. Errors and lousy goalkeeping costs us as well. Anyway, we bounced back pretty well after being twatted by Newcastle and we can again, but if you want to stay angry, then fine.

Emery would only see what happens in training and the only way he could what other players are like is to give them a game, so the cup game would have been ideal, after seeing Olsen against Newcastle I wasn't confident of winning at Utd,in hindsight someone from the forum should have told him,Mcginn, Chambers and a few others were a big let down

Was anyone complaining about the quality of the team when we were leading, TWICE, at OT ? Yes the wheels ultimately came off but it wasn't the disgrace that some are claiming - Olsen aside.

"knives are out", fucking hell that's some hyperbole and a half.

Two days on losing in the league cup, not CL, Europa League, PL or FA Cup, because we might have played a better side and some are still going on about it, calling demoralizing and being scathing of a new manager. Yeh…for some the the tips are being sharpened. Each to their own but maybe it shouldn’t be this important that the new manager thread is consumed with this, to this degree two days later.

No they really aren't. You're on here those 2 days later coming out with stuff not a single person has said.

So nobody has called it demoralizing? And nobody is banging on about us rotating the squad and how the manager got it entirely wrong to do so two days later?

Equating calling a defeat demoralising to sharpening the knives for the manager is such a leap that even Sam Beckett couldn't do it.

Youve been calling people with different views to yours as nutters, and insinuating prople can’t read, hardly reasoned discussion to settle it down.
