For the first time his job has to be in question, I think the players are showing a huge lack of interest, he doesn't seem to be able to motivate them, weekend is a must win for Uni.

Because he's probably bollocking them for their attitude. The big name players going forwards do not look interested. The main man between the sticks rocks the boat and tries to move to a bottom six club and he's got no money to spend and has to go with a bunch of sulking wankers. He's as pissed off as we are.

It does seem to me - and this is based on nowt more than how it's been so far this season - that the players just don't like playing for Emery now.

I hate to agree with this, but I do.

Is he too old school? Too strict?

They just don't look bothered, that is what worries me.

Lethargic, no energy, no drive, no seeming shape. It's massively worrying.

All that may be true but it isn't going to save us, Villa are in deep trouble, its up to the manager to find a way, not knocking Uni in general, when his time at Villa comes to an end he will still be world class, but its not working now and not for Villa.

Fail to win in the next 3 and I think he's gone.

I don't blame him really, I think the higher ups rocked the boat by telling players they were for sale and it affected the squad chemistry.
Emery just doesn't seem to be able to pull it back.

This is exactly right. It goes higher than Emery. When you tell people they are up for sale, what can you expect in return?

I don't think he is about to get sacked or anything, but I do think that if we failed to win any of the next three, then it would be confirmation that something - not necessarily Unai, but something - is very wrong behind the scenes, and in circumstances like that, anything can happen.

We might actually win in Europe if the players could be bothered as Bologna might not have sussed us out yet. However we can't do a Spurs because finishing on their points will have us relegated this season.

Agreed. Something just isn’t right. I would hate to even think that this is it for him. But lose at the weekend and it’s not going to look good. I am starting to get worried. Maybe very worried.

There is something rotten in the state of Villa Park.

I was thinking about this and in reality, nothing's changed but the context of where we are. That end of season run had a sense of unreality about it, giving everything to try and nail Champions League again until that final day disaster when Emery shit the bed with negative tactics. That trust feels to me like it was broken, the spell was lifted somehow.

I also think the travails of the summer have broken trust too, not only because of the well-publicised hysteria surrounding our finances but because the replacements coming in up until Elliott and Sancho were quite clearly nowhere near the level required to chase top four/five. So you have players on big money with itchy feet not totally committed to the task at hand.

TL,DR: key players can't be arsed climbing the mountain again so have stopped listening.

I would say next 2 we have to win and put in a performance in both matches.

The most Villa thing ever is to go to shit after looking good for 2 or 3 years. "Gone to shit again" should be the club motto.

I can't believe there are calls for his sacking. 5 games. Three years ago we had two league wins going into mid November and we finished 7th. I'm sure he'll turn it round.
