If he saves himself then we all win. It means we are ascending up the table and the football is actually good and improving. We are keeping clean sheets and scoring goals. I’ll believe it if it actually happens. Up until this point we’ve seen very little evidence that he will by some miracle turn us into that. Man City was a very good display. But it’s not fixed. Let’s see if there is “continuous improvement” vs Southampton.

Villa at home, as the first game back after an unscheduled break, against a team in red and white stripes? Someone make sure to turn hawkeye off first.

That team but with Young in for the injured Cash. That defence and midfield doesn't need to do anything but defend and give the ball to Buendia, Bailey and Coutinho, and let them do their thing.

Surely they'd be mostly throw-ins if going to Buendia?

Not sure Luiz deserves to be dropped, he was excellent against Man City

He isn't in the 25 man squad so don't think we can put him on the bench until January if he gets put back into the squad.

It will just be Chambers as cover.

As for the game, will be very lively at the start with the anthem being played and hopefully we can come out of the blocks and be on front foot early.

Think it will be interesting selection. Hopefully Gerrard dosen't balls up the midfield and drop Luiz. Southampton at home last season was Coutinho's best game for us so wouldn't shock me if he comes back in given he's been on the bench three out of last four and personally I'd put Ings in ahead of Watkins as we will surely create chances in this so need more of a finisher as the CF.

Last season we won 4-0 and could've easily scored 8. I'll go for this time should've scored three but happy to win 2-0.

He'd be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me.
