So looks like Fred will be on the bench now then

As for the game, will be very lively at the start with the anthem being played and hopefully we can come out of the blocks and be on front foot early.

Yeah, because if there's one thing that guarantees a great atmosphere, it's the national anthem 😉

3-1

I might need a toilet visit a couple of minutes before kick off

Because it's that fucking hard to sit on your hands and keep you mouth shut during a national anthem?

I've seen international games against Wales, Scotland, France, Ireland & Germany (amongst others) and have no problem just acting like a normal human being when opposition anthems are played.  Are you really that immature that you can't do the same?

And no, I'm not a Royalist, I'm entirely ambivalent about the Royal family.  I'm just grown up enough to show a minutes respect when it's asked for.

I just read it as he needed a few lines of whatever to perk himself up before the football started :D

I will observe the silence as that is the respectful thing to do but I won’t join in the national anthem.

A bit of John Donne should do the trick.

Watkins a doubt apparently.  And all three keepers missed training yesterday but Martinez expected to be okay.  Cue Watkins out and all three keepers out.

I think the police have now starting patrolling at least outside the ground with what I assumed were their drug detecting dogs.

Speaking for myself, I was born in this country and as such consider it 'my' national anthem. Not a question of respect, I just think it's a bloody awful tune.

It's a terrible national anthem, but then most are. I'm not a royalist at all, but if it's being sung with gusto tomorrow night I'll join in, more to get the atmosphere going then anything else. The atmosphere against Man City was brilliant and if it's like that tomorrow night we'll batter Saints.

The quality of the song isn't in question.  It's the willingness of people who live and presumably make a living in this country to be prepared to, at the very least, just shut the fuck up and show a bit of respect for about 60 seconds, whatever the wider view on the Royal familiy.

I can't imagine there'll be many doing any different tomorrow night.

Indeed. I won't boo, nor will I sing along. I will merely gently, thoughtfully - and very publicly - masturbate to the internal tune of a McCain's oven chips ad from the 1980s, "We Hope it's Chips, it's Chips".

I feel like it's what she would've wanted.
