For what it’s worth I think it’s the correct decision

Football got it right rugby got it wrong

Shit, now there's two of us. I may have a spare tin hat .......

Don’t tell me you’re a fan of John McGinn as well we could be long lost brothers

Make that three. My Dad thinks I'm a disgrace for not wanting the football to be cancelled.

If I pay for a M&S meal for two and supply a tape with Candle in the wind, can we have our match back on?

Thr argument about not going if you want to respect the Queen is a false one frankly. The point about the postponement is that nobody misses out.

I think respecting other people's rights to mourn, or trying to do the right thing, is a simple thing to do that shouldn't have the gnashing of teeth. It's a football match.

The Queen, like it or not, has been head of state for 70 of her 96 years. I'm not a monarchist but can see why this is such a big thing.

It's a shame that some have purchased accommodation etc, has anyone tried getting a refund or moving bookings?

It's a load of bollocks that the match is off. Some bullshit contrived sense of "respect". I'm glad all the other sports commented on in earlier posts are going ahead because, quite honestly, why wouldn't they? We are making up the rules of grrief as we go along. What a load of shit

Well said. Down with the cap-doffers!

Out of interest, do you think it would be right to call off the next round of fixtures (i.e. Southampton at home for us)?

I think a case can be made for calling off the games this weekend because it's such a recent event. Not so sure about the next round of games.

Personal view....I would just cancel this weekend. So I agree with you.

The Queen dying is a big thing, and people have the right to mourn. But why does that have to involve football matches being called off. Today I've been to take the kids to school, got a coffee on the way back, nipped to the shops to get something for tea and took my eldest to the opticians. 99.99% of businesses are open and life is continuing as normal. Why does infringing on people's right to enjoy their weekends as they see fit increase others' ability to mourn? The pubs are open, bookies are open, cinemas are open, lesiure centres are open, but we can't go to football. Football matches where respect could have been given, as it was at the West Ham match yesterday.

As I said before, you can go to just about every other sporting contest you'd like this weekend. It's arbitrary bollocks, and just another example of the nonsense that grips this country when people think being SEEN to do the right thing is all important.

She’s only just died
We’re in a period of national mourning which should certainly be longer than 1 day

I think rugby will live to regret it As Will all the posh lads sports
They all bang on about how circumspect and respectful their fans are and they’re going to be kicking around shouting and bawling when the Monarch of 70 years it’s still warm, Fucking disgraceful in my view

She deserves more than a couple of minutes silence and the national anthem and then just let’s carry on chaps
Anyway traditionally football is the working man’s game and again it shows The working classes have more respect and dignity than the up their own arse middle-class twats

this will upset the momentum we took from the city performance. Gerrard is still under pressure from some sections of the fan base. He needs results to come quick. couple of wins then the discontent might have dispersed before the international break. Now Saints becomes must win/ dare not lose.

Since he was hired Gerrard seems to me to be cursed. Everything he's done or tried to do has gone wrong.
He said in his first interview how important the cups were, then got drawn away at old trafford twice, the bissuma saga, Couthinio signing (bloke looks shot), the long injury to Carlos, the public spat with Mings, McGinns captincy and form, Beale jumping, Critchley and the passport debacle, the draw in the league cup and now a winnable game being postponed. Things just haven't clicked into place at all and not just results.  Just seems inevitable whats going to happen

Why does she deserve more than that, John? When nobody apart from she and her family do.

A system based on the assumption that someone is better than everyone else, on the basis of a thousand years of their people being better than everyone else's people, doesn't have much currency with me.

FWIW, any postponement of any sporting events, as a mark of respect after the death of the Head of State of 70 years (whatever you think of the monarchy as an institution), should have been across the board, or not at all, not this half-arsed nonsense!
