It's okay, mate. But your opinion is to stop EVERYONE attending. Why not just allow those that want to go to do so, and those that don't want to attend don't have to?

Seems very harsh on those who have paid for travel/hotels, etc, don't you think?

Apologies if I came across as arsey.

It is harsh on them I suppose, but the monarch doesn't die every week. It's hard to explain - it's the cancellation that is the mark of respect, not the fact people go or don't go. If it was on I'd go I suppose, I'm not advocating staying indoors with the curtains drawn. I'm glad it isn't though. Maybe its bollocks, but it feels right to me.

No offence taken as I said. I knew it would be an unpopular opinion on here. They probably all agree with me on majesty.com/forum lol

I'm banned from that site. ☹️

Yeah, sums up how I feel. Apologies from me also. Think I'm just being driven insane by it all.

I get that. I think the way I feel can best be expressed as, she may have been your monarch, that's grand, but she wasn't mine.

FWIW I had nothing particularly against her as a person. But any king, queen, prince, princess, duke, earl, whatever, can fuck off in my book.

My respect to the woman, not the office.

Think football has totally missed the trick here. Every football ground could have paid respect to our queen. But now they will be empty. Missed a massive opportunity I think

Fair enough. And she would absolutely have respected your right to hold that opinion.

I bet he loves Rangers.

I wonder if they've changed the photo in their dressing room yet.

I think you're right. Sorry again for losing it a bit, my job over the last 28 hours has included about 20 hours of writing and publishing tributes to her on behalf of other people, so I think the false sincerity has burnt me out.

Haha no worries , I imagine it has. I'm a thick skinned bugger don't worry, I just like to say what I think even if I know no-one will agree with me. UTV and GSTK.

So people can go to watch rugby union, golf, horse racing, the Great North Run, rugby league or cricket but not football? Why is the national sport the only one where going to a match wouldn't be respectful?

Shut up football fan scum and know your place. Egg ball fans, horse torturers, apple throwers and walk ruiners are superior to plebiscite football fans. Know your place or we will make you.

In short it’s fucking hypocritical thinking we can’t behave

Dunno, but you've tied it to nationhood more than the others there. I wouldn't elevate it like that. If it's special, that could be grounds for treating it differently somehow.

From a royalist perspective, surely horse racing is more "special" if you're going to single one out? Seeing as that's the one she liked.

It's a load of bollocks that the match is off. Some bullshit contrived sense of "respect". I'm glad all the other sports commented on in earlier posts are going ahead because, quite honestly, why wouldn't they? We are making up the rules of grrief as we go along. What a load of shit
