Same people calling him a flop were worried McGinn would be playing.

Counter intuitive maybe, but given where we are I’d keep Donk and send Bogarde on loan. If we can’t shift Donk then we are burdened with his wages whereas we could probably get a fee and wages covered by loaning Bogarde.

Moreso, Donk or Bogarde are, at best, third choice DCM so they’re unlikely to play much, whereas I think Bogarde needs 30+ games this season to develop.

It's a good way of looking at it but Donk's mobility must be shot if we're not reintegrating him as he's perfectly decent with the ball and has good physical strength.

Bogarde can cover various positions so I wouldn't be keen on shipping him out. Dendonker surely has no future at the club.

Mad how he played in some really memorable games, good and bad. Brentford 4-0, Manure 3-1, Jaudi Arabia 0-4 & 3-0, Stevenage, the Manure Boxing Day debacle.

Bogarde is our 4th CB right now, no chance of him going anywhere unless we have a CB coming in.

Leander Dendoncker scheduled to undergo medical on Tuesday ahead of Real Oviedo move. Then expected to sign contract and end three-year spell at #AVFC. Spanish club not paying a fee for the midfielder but reduces Villa's wage bill.

Yeh nothing against him. He wasn’t good enough in the end, but we offered him a deal. No reason why he should walk away. Any more than Coutinho, Micah Richards, Shay Given etc. And every single club has players who haven’t worked out. Seems like a decent enough bloke. Good luck to him.

Always tried his best, but was down the pecking order so best for both parties. Good luck, Leander.

I think giving him a free is a perfect example of the different financial regimes screwing us over from different directions.  Giving him a free will mean we amortise the rest of his purchase cost this year, hurting us for domestic PSR.  But getting his wages off the books will help our wages/revenue ratio for the European FFP rules.

What we gain from one, we lose from another - for EXACTLY the same financial transaction.

It's all bonkers.

Played in what was arguably Unai's greatest performance, the 3-0 against Newcastle.
