As Sir Graham had it, win you stay in, lose go on the booze.

So I've decided against driving and will be drinking heavier than someone at a wedding reception who doesn't know any other sod.

I'm going, but with the kind of enthusiasm I'd have for attending a wedding reception for a work colleague of my wife that I've never met.
Aren't those the worst kind! I have been to two like that over the last two weekends and both times asked the question as we got in the car "So who are these people?" back came the glare and facial expression full of disdain.

They most certainly are. These days I get let off as long as I do something useful instead, which seems like a fair trade.

This is me. As i go with the kids i usually just have one before the game and one at h/t. I may well be dragging them to the pub at lunchtime

So, in our last match against them, we lined up like this

                    Olsen
Cash   Chambers      Mings      Digne
        McGinn   Luiz    Ramsey
              Buendia     Coutinho
                    Watkins

and did ok until the last 10 minutes.

Martinez will be available, we have Kamara now too....

I really do not want to see McGinn in the starting line up.

In these kinds of situations it's great to be a foreigner here. Usually not invited because of the fact I 'wouldn't understand a Japanese wedding' (which is the same as a wedding in England, minus the copious amounts of alcohol, but with the thrilling addition of bingo....)

God only knows mate. They may well do. Your question definitely rings a bell.

My wife is from Hokkaido, so it's not such a traditional part of Japan. That has its benefits to be fair. In laws are far more relaxed about their daughter marrying a non Japanese person, being one of them.

As for bingo, yes, fucking hell.

My enthusiasm for this game is minimal as it seems just to be a case of how many Haaland will score and how badly Villa will play?

Definitely a game not to arrive sober at so you can view through glazed eyes and things won't seem so bad.

Go for over 4.5 goals with City scoring them all!

They never had Haaland then and Villa weren't as bad as they are now!

The last time I felt this pessimistic going in to a game was against Man City in the league cup final, and we gave them a game. I'm hoping for the same here. I don't think it will be the hammering a lot are predicting.

Not overly optimistic, but do have Haaland as my fantasy team captain.

So every cloud....

You don’t even get a decent feed at the Villa ,  my choice is the wedding

That's a good point. I'll pick you up about 5 then.
This is what keeps me coming back here, and allows me to be around sharp objects without suicidal thoughts.
