Another nice evening interrupted by the football. There was more effort, but very last ditch first half, as both McGinn and Ramsey evaporated like water on a hot day. No control in midfield of possession or territory. No real out ball either. Mings hit it long down the left to nobody in particular, McGinn hooked it wode right a few times. When we did get in the final third, we didn't know what to do and created one tame effort.Consistently Bailey looks to find the full back to cross, which doesn't make a huge deal of sense to me. Felt sorry for Kamara being effectively on his own in there. It baffles me why McGinn is picked and Ramsey is so out of form.Even after the subs and the reversion to 442, there were still times when we had 3 lined up wide. Watkins and Ings aren't Benteke, they're not going to bully the opposition in the air. There's a lack of joined up thinking in how we set up and there's no signs of improvement. Arsenal are a decent side, first half they could have had a few more, but I thought they were poor 2nd and once you're back in the game, see it out. 2 really poor errors from Martinez though and if you're going to do that, no matter who you are, you're going to struggle.I'm still of the belief that this squad is performing less than the sum of its parts and ought to be capable of 12th-10th. It needs a centre forward and a mobile midfielder desperately and a centre half stop gap. If we keep performing as we are and losing then Gerrard will only have himself to blame when he's inevitably let go.
It was certainly the loudest I remember hearing their ground, although you can't always tell on the telly.

Understandable I suppose, given their start to the season. Although I did notice that they had what looked like a Crystal Palace-style Ultras section behind the goal. It looked like a few dozen kids in black clobber trying to create “scenes” or whatever they call it. All looked a bit embarrassing to a miserable old cynic like me.
Arsenal are full of confidence, we have none. Even so it was a slight improvement from the weekend. Bailey was good here and there and Kamara decent throughout. It didn't help that our two Argentinians had very poor games by their standards with the goalkeeping one at fault for both goals and lucky, very lucky, not to concede a penalty. I suppose we did well not to concede more than one first half but that one incident where they were peppering our goal where it seemed everyone of their players were about to score, had they done so it would have been ruled out by VAR for a handball by Jesus with the first attempt. Gerrard should be given the boot but I think that will now be after Saturday as it's pretty much a lost cause. Unless of course they sack him now and let Gary Mac be interim while thay get their new man. Gerrard is not going to turn this around.Incidentally, getting access to the site during games seems to be worse than ever, anyone else having similar problems?
All im saying is...give him time, some of us have short memories...we were right behind him a few months ago. Perhaps a honeymoon period, maybe. FFS Arsenal are an excellent team, im not getting on his back so early, im not a sheep. Halfway through the season, id agree with you. But its way too early chum.
Arsenal are a more than decent side at the moment, but that scoreline flatters us.Disappointing to see that we manage to get level somehow only to piss it away meekly minutes later. This team has no collective heart, and even less confidence, and that is down to the manager. Yes, individuals had poor games and made errors, but this all stems from the top - these are not top eight players, but neither are they a 19th in the league squad, either. For me, though the scoreline was not, what happened on the pitch was cringemaking, they were so much better than us in absolutely every department. We looked like a League One side getting a big match away in the FAC 3rd round and just working hard and hoping for something to happen.Man City will murder us. We'll then give him Leicester and Southampton and that'll be over 20% of the season gone and we'll be rock bottom, or very near it.
