I expect a few changes but not many. But hopefully we get to see Cam get a start and maybe some sightings for one or two we’ve not seen this season.

I’ll go 3-0 Villa - Cam, Coutinho, Chambers

Villa have played away to Bolton in cup games 4 times, we've won none of them.

I've seen us lose a league cup semi at the Reebok and get knocked out the FA Cup at Burnden Park. I went to watch Sutton Town play there in the FA Cup in the '90s, they lost too.

After yesterday this suddenly seems insignificant. Only a few short weeks ago this competition would be one of our main aims but the dire state of our football makes winning it almost impossible to imagine.

But you never know. We'll win and the Manager will crow but the butcher is sharpening his knives.

1-2

2-1 to Bolton.

They'll be far too organised for our rabble.

Look, it’s on Steven Gerrard to get the most out of his players so we can be there or thereabouts. If we don’t, that’s on him but the players need to be better and if their not, we’ll find players that are. We can learn and improve.

He won’t, but I would go for a strong starting 11 just to try and get some cohesion.

Olsen

Digne
Mings
Chambers
Guilbert

Nakamba
Kamara

Coutinho
Buendia
Bailey

Watkins

Mix of regular 11 with a few squad players in there, also have Nakamba sitting with Kamara.

He will mix it up totally though, full 11 swapped and will play 4-3-3

Olsen

Defence Young, Chambers, Mings, Augustinsson

Midfield Iroegbunam, Luiz Buendia Sarr

Attack Archer Ings

Important match and chance to give game time to some but have enough about us to win as looking to go deep in competition.
No excuses whatever team is put out.

Bolton play in league one
Their priorities are promotion up to the championship this season.
Bolton have 2 red cards so far this season.
Lost on Saturday at home to Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 first defeat of season .
Played 5 league games W2 D2 L1
1 cup match.(Salford 5-1 Bolton had a sending off)

Play a strong team and try and win the competition. This won't happen. Hopefully our back ups will still be too good. Of course, the absurd attitude to cups nowadays spreads to the lower leagues as well so they may well be playing their reserves too.

Only our manager's second cup fixture and yet it seems like he's been at Villa for years! This seems like the kind of game where a giant killing could be on no matter our starting 11. I hope we make it into the next round and a win in the cup motivates us into winning our next 3 pl games, but I won't be surprised if we fall short again.

  • This is only a problem.
I'm hoping it's a good distraction from the mess which is our league form and we pick up a win.
Not so sure about Sunday though.

Expect to see Nakamba, Sanson, Chambers, Archer & Olsen come in.

Worrying fixture but I think we’ll have enough.

Don't forget Ashely Young . He will be captain.
Needs to make up for his missed penalty at Chelsea
And if it gets to that whatever happens don't let Nakamba near one.
