European Championship multi sport
« on: August 16, 2022, 08:19:37 PM »
Have I missed the thread on this?

It was great seeing the GB gold for the mixed diving and I’m enjoying the athletics, climbing and BMX from Munich and swimming from Rome.

Our man for the fast 50m is through to the final again, although they’re talking about him in the studio as if he’s 93. :)

So are various runners, ( through to finals) although it must be quite a mountain to climb for some, just after the World’s and The Commonwealth Games. Eilish McColgan has guts to spare in this dept! Great silver!

I'm enjoying the championships.
Some interesting 100m finals to look forward to later.

Yes, the women’s 100 looks very interesting!
Victoria U is through to her final, as well

The Men’s 100 was very exciting, I loved the reaction of Azu when he found he’d got the bronze. Thought that Hughes didn’t get the start he needed for gold, but silver’s not bad at this level !

Wow, what a finish for the women’s 100! Neita came through right at the end, but it was so close!

Such a shame for DAS to get cramp in both legs, though, especially as she swerved the Commonwealth games for these.

Anybody watching today?

We got another gold and silver in the diving and Mathew Hudson Smith held on to his title as 400 m supremo!

Very pleased for Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix getting the gold for her solo dive today.

Victoria O was just pipped to bronze in the women’s 400 and could need to find a bit more speed in the first half of her race, because she gets a stunning turn of speed from about 200 m.

Just saw Andy Pozzi wrap up 6th in the hurdles. He started well, then hit a hurdle and then the guys in the middle shot through! How they separated the photo finish I just don’t know.

1/1000th of a second separated gold and silver in the men's hurdles final...close!
It was easy for Hudson-Smith  in the end.

It seems impossible to separate them, looking at the image, but they have the technology!

Really enjoyed Joe Fraser’s individual Championship gold tonight and Jasmin Sawyers’ bronze - I was very impressed with Elish McColgan, as well; she must be made of girders, as they used to say about Irn Bru.

Good to see Dina Asher Smith doing her thing and Charlie Hooper,  both through to the finals tomorrow and I know I’ve forgotten somebody!

Jazmin Sawyers' bronze was my stand out result tonight.
I agree about McColgan. She's certainly come of age in the last 4-5 weeks.

The crowds for the gymnastics aren’t great are they? Can’t help but feel Birmingham would have made a better job of it somehow.

A great effort from Ireland's Ciara Mageean for silver in that race.
