They were sharper after Dele Alli came on but didn’t deserve that goal, made for a very nervy last 10.

How Steven can leave Emi out now is beyond me.
I have a feeling he won't, judging by his post-match comments.
Worrying reports on Diego carlos though.

What are the reports?

Made hard work of the last ten minutes after a silly own goal straight after our second, gave them some momentum.  The changes from us also lost us a bit of control. Overall, we were patient and looked the better side. Still settling in to the new season. Work required in some areas. I still think we need an 8 and busy forward. Great to get three points however we play.

Kamara is just what we’ve missed for years. Right place, right time and he uses it simply.
Coutinho struggled throughout but Buendia looked lively.
Ramsey had a very good second half.
We wasted some great opportunities to score another couple but a win is a win.
A lot more work to do, including defending set pieces.
If we want to challenge the top 7 we need another midfielder and a forward.

Villa are bad for your health. I thought we were in total control until we scored our second, horrible last 10 mins, although Martinez was superb claiming a couple of corners.

As everyone else said Emi B has to start, he’s busy, skillful and creates between the lines, brilliant player. I wonder if Coutinhio is playing with an injury as although i thought he had some nice touches, he’s playing within himself.

I thought Mings was his magnificent best, Kamara is an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, looks a steal that kid. Contrary to some posters on here, i thought McGinn played well, was tenacious and was instrumental in the first goal. Ramsey played well in patches, particularly when Beundia came on. Up front, Ings played well and looked dangerous and Watkins worked really hard, he had to score when Bailey played him in, but i think a combination of low confidence and his legs had started going, didn’t help. Chuffed with the result.

I was talking to a few Everton fans on way back to the car and they like Lampard, but think their current side is shite and they want to get Delli Alli out of their club.

Our movement was terrible again until Buendia came on. Then with him trying to drive forward at all times the others started to move around finally.

Thought JJ did well and very happy for Mings.

Kamara is going to be something special.

Just got back. One things for sure we are so much better with Buendia on the pitch than without him. I was not impressed with him at all when he first came, but I hold my hands up he’s completely won me over. Mings was great and was loving it at the end in front of the Holte End. I thought we dominated the second half but made life hard for ourselves at the end.
Anyway it’s 3 points in the bag, roll on the next game.

Ramsay was man of the match second half, Kamara first half.

FTFY

As I mentioned on Match thread, Ramsey, Coutinho and Digne all playing within 5 yards of each other was a pointless exercise. As soon as Buendia came on we and especially Ramsey had more space to play.

Apart from Ramsey giving the ball away just after they scored. Fucking hell JJ. Other than that he was very good.

Loved the 3 points always do so thank you Steven and boys. But bloody hell that was painful. Didn’t see any rhyme or Rhythm in that display. It was far too much Southgate type of football. Fullbacks standing wide 20 yards in opposition half and tapping it back. Not sure what Steven is doing or where he’s going.

I believe this to be an incorrect analysis of todays performance .

Lifted my spirits for five minutes anyway but there's always some fucker wearing size elevens comes along and boots them half a mile back down the hill saying ' 'ave that Carlos!'.  Well done Villa, well pleased after last Saturday.

The Southgate type football today only came from one team and it wasn’t Villa

Ramsay was man of the match
no he wasn't , both Mings and Kamara were awesome for whole game, Ramsay played in patches. That  block by Mings near the end was magnificent and  a matchwinning one
