I agree with you BC I don't like us using betting companies again.
I agree with both of you. It doesn't stand us in good light.

This is a dumb move by the club and an awful look. I know other clubs are engaging in similar partnerships but that doesn’t make it right. We should be better than this.

Very against this, gambling is such a destructive addiction.

I agree about gambling being a destructive addiction, and may be we should be the 1st club in the country to go alcohol free in the stadium

That for me would set a real precedent

That's a terrible idea. The non alcohol suggestion I mean.

I strongly suspect that the only real reason for combining crypto and online gaming is money laundering.

I think I posted a link to this last year.

Is the Premier League used as part of an unprecedented money-laundering operation?

A long read, but really interesting. The Isle Of Man features a fair bit.

You did, and I read it then. Very interesting indeed. I know all of the IOM people mentioned fairly well.

Does anyone have any idea how much this deal is worth? I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of fans do not want this type of sponsorship, and it makes the club lose some of the goodwill it generates in other areas.

If this is £20m a year, then I'm sure many of us could swallow it as a 'cost of competing'.  But if it's a million a year, or less, is it really worth it?

Edit: I do hope there isn't going to be an element here were Villa benefit financially from fans signing up to use this service (which is what you see a lot with gambling advertising).

Going alcohol free will force lot of people to actually watch the match rather than hanging around in the concourse most of the second half. How are they going to cope with that?

If you live in the UK, or indeed 99% of Europe, you can't sign up. By legal means anyway.

Cocaine use in the toilets would increase?

Gambling advertising should be banned, the authority that runs Gaelic games (GAA) banned all advertising/sponsorship a number of years back. I can't imagine financially that AVFC actually need a betting 'partner', goodwill generated by dumping them would be a lot more significant. Booze in sports stadiums in general is horrible anyway so again can't imagine it would unduly impact match day revenue nor the match day experience for all.

It's an awful partnership for a club that should be infinitely better than this.

Barnsley fans have just risen up against their club's deal which saw hex.com on the shirts. And the club have terminated the contract with immediate effect. Something the FSA are supporting. It can be done.

Barnsley linky.
