Re: McGinn’s ‘legbreaker’.
It’s looks much worse because of the pitch. It’s clear the Leeds kid kicks the ground first which slows his momentum down and he ends up kicking the bottom of Ginny’s boot.
Decent pitch and there would be nothing to discuss.

That's a foul and maybe a yellow, nothing more than that.

Nobody seems to be be talking about that same Leeds kid leaving Buendia needing lengthy treatment that got him a yellow. But somehow SJM has shot and killed the kid given the reactions by that lot.

It’s fairly standard from fans though isn’t it? And you in add in on top they’re Leeds fans, then it’s hardly a surprise.

Thought it was a yellow, but just hoping the injury is not a bad one.

Just been through the match and saved the tackle to video so could have a look.

They both swing for the ball at the same time, their feet come down together at speed, and McGinn’s foot comes down on Gray’s heel. It’s all pace and they’re both heading into each other, so it’s a bit clumsy and you can argue both players could have thought twice before sticking their boot in there.

I think a yellow is fair, wasn’t deliberate though, certainly wasn’t revenge because McGinn doesn’t even look up from the ball to see who it is. Could easily have been Gray’s foot land on McGinn’s too.

If anyone wants to watch it, the full 90 minutes is on Villa TV and you can forward it to about 68:40 game time to see for yourself.

Yep, my thoughts. Always think it’s worth considering what you’d want if it was the other way round - McGinn fouled by the Leeds lad.  With that in mind, it’s definitely a foul. A yellow seems harsh, but arguably both players overstepped what was sensible/safe so … maybe. Nothing more than that, though - it’s a bit of a nothing tackle that’s, whilst a bit reckless, wasn’t malicious or especially bad.

And before you do, go to 66 minutes and about 8 seconds to watch Gray crunch Buendia. It’s a much worse challenge and we were all fortunate Buendia was being carried off.

I think even a yellow is a little harsh but it's the sort where if a yellow is given, it's easy to accept it.

McGinn goes in with the outside of his foot and the lad catches his studs in the ground.  Absolutely nothing wrong with the tackle at all.  Really surprised he got booked for that.

Take your claret and blue gigs off it was a poor challenge can’t say otherwise

Just watched it 3 or 4 times in a row. I can see how at normal pace seeing it once it might seem bad, slowed down, which is what VAR would do, its not actually a foul, he won the ball and hardly touched the man, no claret and blue specs on.

I'll be honest, I can't see much wrong with that tackle either.
