Called by Ashley Williams, a player judging another player by the limits of his own ability.

Tyrone has had that ball to Watkins in his locker since we signed him, it was the same ball that got the Sheff Utd player
sent off in Watkins first game.

Any reasonable defender should be able to defend a ball like that. Can only imagine the reaction on here if Mings had been the defender at fault.

I didn't see the game but was totally against Ings/Watkins being given another go. How did they do as a partnership?

They played either side of Coutinho so not really a partnership but it did look a better balance. I thought both worked their bollocks off and Watkins in particular seemed happier in the formation.

Yes, marvellous day out. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I think some are being harsh on the team. We weathered the early storm, took the heat out of Brighton's attack, quietened the crowd and scored a couple of lovely goals. I'm chuffed to bits with the 3 points.

Long drive but a good day out. Brighton fans seem a decent lot, but I’m not sure i’d like the idea of most of the fanbase being bussed in and out of the ground on every match day. Seems really soulless.  Saying that though its still a really smart little stadium with friendly support.

It was a definite change in shape, with Ings and Watkins up front with Coutinho in a central role just behind them.  Watkins and Ings stayed fairly wide, meaning the full-backs didn't seem to be as advanced as before.

I'm really wishing to go to some matches again if only a handful a season Brighton may be something depending on when it's on for next season as that seems ok

Sounds far more effective than playing in a way that leaves our fullbacks stranded upfield.

It's encouraging too that the problems have been identified and a solution was found that worked.

Lots of accusations of tactical inflexibility in the week (and it concerned me), so that's really good to see.

The simple solution to that is to stop picking Luiz.

You summed it up on another thread though. Who with while Nakamba is out?

I would be tempted to give Iroegbunam a run out and why not? Other teams play youngsters in important positions and have done for years.

I would be tempted to give Iroegbunam a run out and why not? Other teams play youngsters in important positions and have done for years.

I'd start with Sanson. He's no more a DM than Luiz is, but seems a lot less prone to giving it away in dangerous areas. Then start giving Iroegbunam more of a run out in games, eg bring him on after 60 mins, or earlier if we've got a decent lead. Then when we've got another 6 or 7 points, start playing him from the start, ie planning for next year. Like Ramsey, if he turns out to be the real deal he could save us £50m.

For those that saw the game how did Bissouma do?  Did he show enough to want to go all out to get him in the summer or do we look elsewhere for that #6 role?

He was neat and tidy with the ball but I didn't think he stood out at all to be honest Gareth.  Brighton had a lot of the ball and crossed quite a lot into our box but failed to trouble us.  They way they play, crosses into the box, they need a bigger centre forward to attack the balls in.  Bissouma is arguably one of the reasons why they had a lot of the ball but didn't look massively dangerous.

I thought v similar in the VP game, neat & tidy but didn’t see a big, mobile destroyer in there.  The benchmark shouldn’t be improving on the performances Douglas has put in out of position but to improve those of Nakamba immediately before his injury.
