Heart attack 5th December 2021
« on: February 14, 2022, 01:12:34 PM »
Just to let you all know that it was me that caused the traffic chaos in Upper Sutton Street when I was found slumped over the steering wheel of my car following a cardiac arrest. I owe my life to the 3 passing men, Keith Draper, Joe Tilly and Jamie Canning, who took it in turns to perform CPR on me for almost 25 minutes before the ambulance people arrived and took over. Without their assistance, I wouldn’t now be here and able to tell my story. I’m so pleased to be able to now say that I’m making great progress and was able to attend the Leeds match last Wednesday. The only downside, from my incident, has sadly been from the Club. Whilst I was in hospital, my son phoned and emailed various people at AVFC, including messrs. Sawaris, Edens and Purslow to ask if they could acknowledge these 3 men with a memento from the Club but, he either had no replies from some and just no’s from others. A real shame.
Now that I’m able, I shall be contacting my 3 heroes, hopefully, so I can meet up with them and thank them personally.
My thanks also, to all of you on H&V that were enquiring about my health.
Finally, hope our team can get back to winning ways v Watford this coming Saturday.UTV

Wow, Skerra, what a story. Glad to read that you've made such an impressive recovery.
I'd recommend not attending too many games - that would definitely not be good for the heart.

Good news that you're on the road to recovery and life is getting back to normal for you.
Your 3 "heroes" certainly deserve recognition.

So pleased to hear that Skerra. I was one of the fans sitting in the car park of the church in Upper Sutton Street waiting for the road to clear for us to leave. Someone came up looking for a defibrillator, told us what was happening and everyone was concerned for you. Seeing the ambulance blue lighting past us was some relief as it showed that you were getting treatment. Take care UTV

Pleased to hear you're on the mend. Did you try to contact Lee Preece at the club?
