How about saying it is only offside if the part of the player that is used to score is offside?

Can't see how West Ham's goal "headed" by the arm of their centre back is allowed whereas Ollie, who uses his head to score, is denied due to a languid foot. The Barcodes defender they measured him against, knows bugger-all about what's about to happen. It's not as if he's trying to play him off. All seems down to luck.

It's bollocks, what advantage does Watkins gain? One tiny part of him is offside, the other 90% is on.

Maybe they can use that, if less than 50% of body mass is off the goal stands.

Or maybe they could host fuck the whole shitshow off and accept it's added nothing, absolutely nothing, to the game and just serves to piss people off and ruin entertainment.

If they just applied "clear and obvious" to offside as well, everything would be fine. The Watkins effort looked like a perfectly good goal from watching it, but I knew it would be a few minute check to see if it was legal, so went and put the kettle on rather than celebrate it. That's what they've done to football.

It doesn't seem unreasonable, does it?

Though I suggest having a man with a flag at the side of the pitch, who could signal to the referee if he sees it.

Joking aside, I know they don't flag straight away or appear to do much at all, but that lino wasn't having any of that as offside in real time because that's the first thing I looked at (couldn't see the full back playing him on at the time), he kept his arm firmly down and bolted straight back to the halfway line, because he could fucking see it was onside.

It's not going to go away but just have a quick look and if the forward's clearly offside, fine. No sodding lines or ten minute analysis please.

Also, are the lines actually "thicker" than last season ie would Ollienhave been even more offside last year? Feel quite sorry for him, he's been VAR'd and hit the woodwork a hell of a lot in his 18 months with us.

To paraphrase Napoleon, I'd rather have a lucky striker than a good one. This season Ollie is neither.

Howe's saying Trippier got stamped on. Disappointing when managers come out with this crap. I don't recall the incident (who was it) but isn't getting your foot trodden on part and parcel of playing  'foot' ball. It's not like his thigh, calf or chest were stamped  on.

Howe is a shit weasel. Newcastle look absolutely no different than they did under Bruce and but for the spawny deflection were as limp attack wise as us.

He's always had a team of snide thugs, yet somehow he's got a reputation for playing football.
