Sorry, I derailed the thread somewhat but I could see why someone who was a teenager or younger would get excited by a fully formed Football League team appearing close to where they lived but not anyone older who, presumably if they had an interest in Football, would already have had a club allegiance.

Whatever their age, I don’t see why being a supporter of one club precludes a person from being interested in the team in the town/city where they live.

Whatever their age, I don’t see why being a supporter of one club precludes a person from being interested in the team in the town/city where they live.

Not many people ‘choose’ the club they support, more often it simple proximity or a shared bond with mates or family that comes first.

I grew up near MK and a fair few of my mates have ended up watching them, mainly due to the free kids tickets and the opportunity to take them to matches without spending a ton of cash and spending most of the day getting there and back.  A few now have season tickets and would probably class themselves as proper fans, none of them set out to be MK Dons fans.

Looks like AEG made a terrible decision to go to Everton. Seemed a strange one even when Benitez was there as he was going to be competing with their best player, Gray, for a starting position.

Now Lampard has come in and bought two more attacking players who seem like they will be competing with each other for a spot. Everton look a complete mess, wouldn't be surprised at all if they got relegated. No legs at all in their midfield and they go out and get Alli and DvB. Bonkers.

For me, moving Wimbledon to MK was absolutely and utterly wrong. I've incredible sympathy with the Wimbledon supporters. But one thing I would say is that if your choice was supporting MK Dons, as your local team, or some rich oil state sports washing affair then really, they are by some distance the lesser of two evils.

yeah was thinking that. Last week he was the Manager's shiny new signing, now he's basically a player the Manager may not want. Not having the best of luck.

I'd  imagine Mr Gerrard is probably very straight with the players. When Everton approached us he probably told him he wasn't part of his plans so you could understand him going for a new challenge. Maybe that was the same with Targett when Newcastle came in although its not like he was so far down the pecking order

I think lampard might play him actually. Alli and Donny Osmond are central players, so I would imagine he's going to go to some kind of 4-3-3. Townsend has had his good spell for the season, so El Ghazi might get a run. Their midfield does look a bit lightweight though without Dacoure for a few weeks. Allan is good but will be doing 3 players jobs. Alli will hang around Calvert Lewin and do something spectacular every few weeks but little else and Beek has been lamented by united fans for not being strong enough when he does play.
