We had 52% possession. They had 9 corners to our three and more shots. I'm a nervous wreck. Not a game of playing it on the floor and keeping possession. Crikey!

First double over Everton in about a million years. I missed the specific number, the commentators were more concerned with criticizing Gerrard for daring to celebrate.

Good teams play badly and still manage to win.

This.

We ground it out and did what we had to. They didn't have any real clear chances.

There were a lot of bookings but a lot that went unpunished. Holgate, Allan and Richarlison all deserved more.

Great result and battling, committed performance.

There's clearly a heck of a spirit in this team.

Wonderful to have a two week break on the back of a win.

And to those Everton scrotes who threw missiles at our boys? Have that defeat you pond life morons.

Up the Villa!!

Result aside, that was a rotten performance. Two really poor teams. Everton have to be in real danger of going down. Cash shut down Gray really well, Digne was very good. Konsa and Luiz solid. After that, individually and collectively poor. How McGinn lasted 96 mins is a mystery.

Martinez 6 - very little to do
Cash 7 - shut down Gray really well, liked his cynical yellow that McGinn was at fault for
Konsa 7 - solid as always
Mings 5 - so many mistakes and poor decisions
Digne 7 - to be fair, he does look an improvement on Targett
Luiz 7 - solid performance in front of back 4
Ramsey 6 - some very good moments in first half but quiet in second half
McGinn 3 - rubbish
coutinho 5 - some nice touches in first half, no impact in second
Buendia 6 - see Countinho but got the goal
Watkins 4 - gets into good positions but again wasted pretty much every opportunity. His first touch is rotten.

Chucky and Ings hardly got a kick. Hause at least won a few headers. Gerrard was far too slow to make changes and very fortunate not to pay the price.

Chuffed with the 3 points, to say it was hard fought is an understatement. Cash my MOTM, Emi hardly had a save to make even though they bombarded us with long balls for pretty much all of the second half.

We rode our luck in the second-half, but winning ugly has been one of things we needed to improve, so a good result.

Thought Watkins and especially Mings were poor.

Buendia superb, always going to be difficult today because we faced the occasion as well as the opposition. No luck about it - fully deserved for me. They should be ashamed  - why didn't they put that in all season?.
Count the number of bottles on the ground when we celebrated - I got to five and I bet they shoplifted every fucking one of them.

A better team would have got back into that.

Great result, not good performance. Everton understandingly we at us, forced too many errors...and a lot of unforced ones. Need to stop being sloppy. Everton are poor though.

It's these type of results that will take us further up the table. Mings was distracted again and pretty amiss with headers. Digne was superb.

Mings held firm entilted to criticise but unecessary when he was solid captaining and organising did well really and kept a clean sheet.
Any mishaps didn't lead to any goal.
Thought he was strong overall and result proved it
