I'd agree based on his last few performances but i'd also agree prior to that with those that said that he's an absolute shambles and the vast majority of second choice keepers we've had over the years have been better so therefore we can reasonably expect better now.

Just hoping he keeps it up from his last few, it is looking like Emery and his team have even been able to work their magic in this case which once again is pretty incredible really.

My main concern with Olsen for Thursday is simply that if he gets injured during the match we're down to someone whose never played at a decent level, never mind in a game as important as a European SF. Not saying they'd do it, but if I was Olympiakos, I'd be thinking get in there and rattle the keeper as much as possible.

Who'd want to lose their keeper in such an important game. That never works out well.

Obviously, but it's usually going from 1st choice to 2nd, not from 2nd to never played before.

*cough* *cough* He might be hinting at 1982 *cough* *cough*.

I hope we're thinking of doing exactly this to theirs.

I really don't like that World's #2 song they started up, especially when he DOES have his own song, heard around the bars of Lille the other week....

He looks good! (He looks good!)
He looks fine! (He looks fine!)
Robin Olsen's on my mind... and he's Villa's 25,
Singing Doo-wah-diddy, diddy-dum, diddy-doo!
Signed for Aston Villa,
Saving one or two!

Maybe unfair to compare him to Emi but by any measure he’s poor at this level. Just costs us goals almost every time he plays.

Even when he's playing OK he always seems to manage to concede 2, 3 or 4 goals.

Martinez brings so much more than so many keepers. Olsen just isnt good enough

His defence didn't help but he has the wrists of a packet of crisps.  I have zero faith in him, zero.

You can say many of thw goals were not his fault but im sorry he elaks goals even ever he is in the team.

He is so shit with thw balm at his feet too. Should have done better with 2nd goal.

Hope he is sold off in summer

I actually think he is fine with the ball at his feet.

It's all the other stuff that is the problem.

I dunno, I just feel like shot on target = goal against him, almost always (Palmer save and that great one today being the outliers).

How the fcuk does Martinez even pull a hamstring FFS.

For all his many fine gifts he's not a sprinter.

It just shows what we've been up against recently.

This 100%. Every time he plays for us we let in at least 2. Has he even ever kept a clean sheet for us?!
