His effort on the deflected goal was abysmal. Even with the deflection it was coming right at him, and he just didn't get his hands right.

The bit I'd question is whether he should have just tried to block it rather than flick it over.

It just seemed to ricochet off the back of his hand. It's what people talk about twhen they say he's got weak hands. I don't think he was at fault at all for the first or third goals, but I think he could have done better for the second and fourth. As could several other players as well, to be fair, it's not all on him by any stretch.
Quote from: LeonW on May 02, 2024, 10:33:32 PMI can’t find the argument for persevering with Olsen. He’ll likely be on decent wages yet if you look beyond some caps for Sweden (in competition for who for the number one spot is the question) his club career has actually been pretty poor at the highest level. The Roma move is the anomaly and they very quickly wanted him out with a series of uninspiring loans before we bought him. It would make much more sense to get him off the books and have a kid working with Martinez and playing some games. Even Nyland some great moments for us. Olsen’s only consistency is that he’ll ship goals and breed worry in his defence.I wonder what absolute transfer genius signed him for Roma.

I would put greater fault on Konsa for not closing the distance down better.
I thought Cash played their lad on for the first, Digne for the second?Without any evidence whatsoever, I get the feeling some of the players don't believe in, or trust the offside trap anymore. We certainly don't do it anywhere near as well when the 2x CH's aren't Konsa and Torres. For large parts of the past year I really thought that our defensive system was robustly trained into all squad members so that even when we swapped players in and out, they all acted as one and we looked secure and unlikely to concede. Somethings changed in the mindset.
